I grinned back. “Good news.”
“It gets better,” Pat said. “Garner was also visited by an FBI agent. A courtesy call to let local law enforcement know that a federal grand jury subpoenaed Dooley.”
“Had the agent come to suggest Garner reopen his own investigation into the shooting?” I asked.
Pat gave a negative head shake. “Nothing so heavy-handed. It was a courtesy call. The FBI agent advising Garner he was in town gathering information for the prosecutor who will question Dooley about shooting Jeff.”
