Chapter 36: Letting Go

1602 Words
Two Years Later Mischa I have tried everything to make Pietro see me again. I stood in his office and even suggested that vampires have two mates. He looked at me and said, "When it's time for my other mate, then I will mate her or him," and it broke me, I held my tears back, as I watched him rolling his ring around his finger. It meant a lot to him, and I finally accepted that it was over between us, I looked down at my feet, and he walked over to me, lifted my chin to face him, and I said, "Permission to leave the clan." He opened his eyes, shocked and backed away; he swallowed and said, "Permission granted." I felt a weight lift off my chest; I was finally letting go, and I turned around and ran outside. I leaned against a tree crying; Pascal was mated now, he looked at me, and came over saying, "Hey, do you want to talk about it?" I smiled, wiped my tears, and said, "No, I was just saying goodbye," and he looked at me, saying, "It's best, you need a fresh start, and I wish you all the happiness in the world." He left, picking up his two-year-old son and walking indoors. I turned to see Luna Imba with her kids by the pond, and I walked over. She said, "I am not in the mood, Mischa." I said, "I am not here to cause trouble, I want to tell you I'm leaving, you don't have to worry about me ever again, you won." She got up and turned to me and said, "It wasn't a game to win, we are fated mates, he was never going to choose you, but I hope you find your mate, he is waiting for you, or should I say, they are waiting for you." I refused to let her see how much it hurt me seeing her and Pietro together over the years; I turned around and headed to my already packed luggage. I looked at a picture of us on my nightstand; I saw my tears dripping on the glass, Pietro was my family, and now I am alone, I put it down when I saw one of the guards take my luggage to the car. I signed the release papers and left them on the bed, and I walked out, Pietro and Veruse were standing by the car as I got there. I hugged Veruse, who said, "Keep in touch, kiddo," and I nodded; I turned to see Pietro opening the car door. I looked at him and said nothing; he stopped me and wiped my tears, and said, "You will be happy again, I promised." I said, "Yeah, maybe, but I won't be happy here, so thanks for saving my life when I needed it," and got into the car. I drove off and never looked back; this part of my life was over, and as I turned down the highway heading to the heart of Rogueland City, I didn't know what to expect, but I was going to make something of myself. I loved Pietro, but he loved another; my heart beat out of my chest at the unknown, I wanted to turn around and go back, but I could never be happy there. A few hours later, I was at the new apartment I had found last month, and I had a job lined up, my account had a few thousand dollars in it, and I went to check it out, and it was legit. I looked at the bank teller when she told me it was over two million dollars in my account since I last checked, and I turned around to head to a nice restaurant because I was starving. I smiled and got a link saying, "I hope you love your little gift, you don't have to work, baby," and I froze because I hadn't heard that voice in months; I asked, "Joe, did you do this?" He asked, "What if I did for my beautiful mate?" I said, "Thank you, but I don't want to burden someone else; I can get a job." My food arrived, and Joe asked, "Can I join you?" I was shocked and asked, "Are you keeping tabs on me?" He laughed and said, "Of course I am, since you left the coven, I wasn't letting my mate drive down here without being protected." I said, "I am afraid to meet you, what if I am not what you want?" He said, "You are what I want, Mischa, now can I join you in the restaurant?" I inhaled and said, "Okay," closing the link. I got up and went to the bathroom, I was nervous, I wasn't dressed nicely, and he was probably rich after leaving me all that money in my account. I was a nobody, and I exhaled before walking back out to my table; I saw a man sitting there backing me. He had blond hair and was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans; I admired his back, which was muscular, and saw his visible tattoo outlined under his sleeve. The restaurant was empty, and he turned around, and I saw Lune Jerrod; he said, "Mate," and I saw black. ****** Jerrod I was downtown in the mall looking for birthday gifts for my daughters when I received a notification that my mate had reached Rogueland City. Pietro had let me know when she left, so my men drove behind her to ensure she was safe, I knew she had checked her account, but I wanted her to be stable until she joined us in the Palace. Geoff was away on business, and I told him everything; he was excited and told me not to blow it, he wanted her as much as I did. I decided to contact her, then we had a little talk back and forth; she was in my restaurant, and I put my kids' gifts in my office and went downstairs to meet her after convincing her to finally meet. The manager said, "She is in the bathroom," and I mind-linked everyone to clear the room, and their next meal was on me for the inconvenience. I wasn't ready to let everyone know we had found our Queen; it might scare her off, so I sat down and had wine brought out, waiting until she returned. I felt her behind me, and I smiled, I felt her nervousness and wanted to calm her down; it seemed she had a rough past from what little Pietro mentioned. I drank the glass of wine and got up to meet the woman I had been waiting for to complete our bond for a few years now. I looked into her eyes and the bond connected, my wolf happily saying, "Mate" and then I saw her eyes roll back, and I teleported to catch her. I held her in my hands bridal style, I smiled, looking at the beauty in my hands, and linked Geoff and said, "She is beautiful." I could feel the tingling of our bond, and I teleported her to her apartment; I wanted her to wake up feeling safe in her home. Geoff teleported to me and looked at her; he moved her hair out of her face and closed his eyes, saying, "She is beautiful." He kissed her forehead and said, "Take care of her, I will be back in two days," and I looked at him, kissing his lips before he left to go back to his trip. I rested her on the bed and took her shoes off, I covered her in a blanket, and walked to her small kitchen; I made coffee and looked out the window, mind-linking Gunner to bring me some stuff so I could wait until she woke up. I had men living on this floor to be close to her; I was not taking any chances with our mate alone in this apartment. Julius appeared with a bag in his hand and asked, "Can I meet her?" I told him to be quiet and explain what happened earlier; he laughed and said, "I know your ugly face will scare her off, old man." Julius meant well, he loved me, and I loved him; he said, "I've got to go, I am meeting this cute lady for dinner tonight." I raised my eyebrows at him and said, "That better be your wife or your supreme father-in-law would have your head," and he smiled and asked, "Who else would it be?" "I'm not stupid." He left, and I sat down in the chair next to the bed, drinking coffee; I was going to be there when she woke up and would answer any questions she may have. I woke up to the sun on my face and realized it was the next morning; I heard her little snores and started making breakfast. I could feel she would soon wake up, I was wearing a vest and joggers after spending the night there, and I slept on the couch so as not to scare her in case she woke up during the night. I had blood bags brought over and had them in the mini-fridge I have there; I heard slight moans and turned to see her waking up. She looked at me and said, "Omg, this can't be right; I am mated to the king consort, that would mean I am mated to the Rogue King," and I smiled and asked, "How did you sleep, love?"
