Chapter 25: Samuel's Claim

A Few Years Later

Samuel

So much has happened since learning the truth about my daughter with Diana; she was happily mated, and her mate was the Gamma of Rogueland. Cole adopted my daughter, she doesn't know me and I haven't told Kaitlyn, I haven't confronted Diana about it because I was afraid of how my wife would react. King Geoff officially took over Rogueland once Esmerelda was killed and sent her here for her sentence; she will be reincarnated once her sentence is fulfilled, but her former mate, Roman, will be there a lot longer, maybe even for an eternity. Rogueland has prospered, and some of my demons moved there; we have a treaty with them, so it doesn't matter. Athena was safe from my enemies, so it was a good thing. I have been working with Allanmire, who was helping look for Harper. Additionally, he was still seeing my sister on and off, often fighting because they couldn't seem to admit their feelings for each other.

Kaitlyn had planned a retreat for us couples to relax; my men needed a break, and my father would step in for the week to ensure everything went smoothly while we were camping in Ravena. Aidan has been notified, and so has Emile, since we will be in Elvira; Emile was a nice guy once you got to know him, and he turned out to be a good ally and friend. I always kept tabs on Ravena through Marion and Dru, but we still had our secret link, and they talked so much s**t forgetting I was there. Sometimes I think they do it on purpose because they know it pisses me off when I am left out of all the fun. I wasn't there when Esmerelda was killed, or saw Geoff realize he was bisexual; that one was funny, I missed out on Ty killing Vivianne, and unfortunately, she is not here because of the spell that left her in limbo for eternity.

The drive was calming, enjoying the scenery, when my wife needed to use the bathroom, so we pulled into a convenience store and got a few snacks. The guys filled the cars up with gas and looked at the mountainside in the distance, we were close to Elvira and it was a beautiful sight. Devon walked over to me and said, "There are rogues in the distance watching us," and I smiled and said, "As long as they stay in the distance, we are fine," and he went into the store to check on the ladies. Haru was lighting a cigarette when Rave took it out of his mouth and kissed him; he dropped it on the ground because his mate wanted him to quit. They were so in love, and it was sickening to see, but in a good way, they were happy. I heard giggles behind me and turned to see the girls sharing a joke, and Lylac on Devon's back as they laughed about their secret joke. We were attacked on our trip to the couples' retreat, but my dark angels handled it, especially after Lylac was injured.

The Next Day

After everything had settled and Teku was killed, Tiberius was teleported for help as he died with the knife in his chest; Teku thought he had him, not knowing he was immortal, but he would be out for a while. I turned to leave when a woman ran into Aidan's arms; Queen Lily didn't look happy until the strange young woman called him dad. Ty put a barrier up quickly so no one could hear the conversation but us; it was Issy reincarnated as Toffe appeared and confirmed it before teleporting with her. I left the family to rejoice as my son went to explain his ex and child to his mate, Balthazar, who was getting my check for the bet we had won because we knew better than to bet against the Supremes. I turned to leave and tried returning to my mate when Diana appeared unhappy and said, "We need to talk, Samuel."

Diana

I watched the hunt happen with my husband; we had been here on vacation with the kids since school was on a break, and it was a lovely little town with plenty of fun activities for families. I haven't thought about Demorland in years; things have been great in Rogueland with my family. Cole loves me like no other and takes his role seriously as Gamma; we have a son together named Colton, he adopted my daughter, and is the only father she has ever known. He loves her, and she loves him; we are a tight-knit family, and my love for Samuel eventually faded. Cole got the time off so we could spend time together; we wanted to make memories for our kids, so we happened to be in town for the hunt and decided to watch. However, the kids weren't allowed to watch Teku being killed; they were sent back to the hotel with their guard.

When I found out I was pregnant with Athena, I panicked and blocked him from ever feeling it because I thought they would kill me to keep his secret. I left the company once I was beginning to show my baby bump; I was afraid it would get back to him, and then the bodies were piling up because of my pregnancy, a serial killer was announced on the news, and I had to flee. Rogueland was the best bet; it was run by the Rogue Queen, Esmerelda, at the time, and she was unhinged and never checked who was there. She had it cloaked once before, so no one would find it, but demons were magnets to darkness. Eventually, the cloak was removed once the Supremes got their way and Roman was killed; King Geoff double-crossed her, took over, and my husband became his Gamma. I sensed that Samuel was here once the dust settled, and I realized he wasn't alone because Balthazar was also there.

I told Cole, "Go check on the kids, and I will get the pizza," and he kissed me and said, "Be careful," before running off to check on our babies. I wanted to talk to Samuel, make sure he wasn't hunting me or knew about Athena, I needed to protect my baby from the likes of him. I watched him, and as soon as he was done talking to Balthazar, I said, "We need to talk, Samuel," and he looked shocked to see me up close, but I didn't care. He nodded for me to follow him, but I didn't move; my mind was thinking about him killing me, and my husband mind-linked me, "Are you okay, Diana?" "I can feel fear, love," I smiled and said, "I saw a damn possum, it scared me, I will be fine, see you soon," closing the link. Samuel said, "I won't harm you, I want to talk in private," and I walked behind him to an open area where no one could hear us.

He turned to me and I said, "I didn't know things like this fascinated you," and he smiled and said, "I love the chase, the adrenaline keeps us demons on edge, you know that." I smiled but stopped when he said, "I want to meet with Athena," I was shocked he knew about her after I tried so hard to keep her a secret from her biological father. I said, "No, she is my daughter, Samuel, not yours, you have no rights or claims to her, I am not one of you anymore, I gave it up, I can give it up right now, I don't need to return there, I am a Lycan now, you don't have to kill me, my succubi is gone." I was rambling as my heart rate picked up, I heard a wolf growl, and saw Cole in his wolf form, ready to attack Samuel.

Gamma Cole

I was on vacation with my family, hoping to have another baby, but I will have to wait for more private time; our kids are older and will soon be out of the house. I was in Lubartown, and there was going to be a hunt, but Diana didn't want the kids to see it happen, and I sent them with their guard back to the hotel. She was protective of our babies, and I loved that about her; however, something was bothering her, and I kissed her forehead and asked, "What is on your pretty little mind, love?" She smiled and said, "I love you so much, always remember that," and kissed me before we watched the hunt happen. I loved Diana, and nothing will ever change that; she was my peace, and I would kill anyone who tried to hurt her or my kids in any way. After the hunt, I held her hand and was about to leave; she looked at me, lost in thought before I kissed her and said, "Hey, are you okay?"

She looked at me and smiled, saying, "Go check on the kids, and I will get the pizza," I looked into her eyes, kissed her, and said, "Be careful," before running off to check on our babies. I knew something was up, but Diana could handle herself; I had no reason to think she was in danger, and I reached the hotel when I felt her fear in our bond. I mind-inked her, "Are you okay, Diana?" "I can feel fear, love," she said, "I saw a damn possum, it scared me, I will be fine, see you soon," closing the link. My Lycan didn't feel assured, so we growled, and he took over following our bond; everyone was moving out of the street, feeling my wrath. The bond led me to where my wife was, and I saw a man with her; it seemed like they were arguing, and I growled. I relaxed when I saw who it was and stood next to my wife, calming her down; she didn't know I knew that Samuel was Athena's father, and what she was.

I changed back, and Samuel conjured up shorts for me; he told me who he was, and I looked at Diana for confirmation, although I didn't need it. I kissed my mate and hugged her so she could settle, while Amon appeared, and she grabbed hold of me tighter, burying her face in my chest. I looked worried because something else was going on that I didn't know of; Amon said, "I came in place of Aidan; he is busy right now with his family," Samuel nodded, and I asked, "What is this?" Samuel said, "Diana, you need to tell him," and she looked at me and said, "Samuel is Athena's father; he wants to meet her." I looked at him and said, "She doesn't know you; why are you showing up now?" He didn't answer, and Diana turned my face to look at her and said, "I was hiding, I am half succubus, I killed a lot of people in the human territory, so I ran here to Rogueland where I met you, I bind Athena succubi side so she can have a normal life without the feedings, there are here to kill me."

Amon said, "We cleaned up your mess, but that doesn't mean you are free from the consequences of killing humans." My heart rate picked up, worried about my mate, although I hid her secret when I found out. Samuel said, "I am not going to kill you, I just want to meet Athena," and she said, "No, Samuel, she is happy, and loved, and I will go to prison to keep her secret away from the Underworld." "You lied to me about protecting my species; you were going to have me killed because I wasn't important enough, and my love for you meant nothing." Amon cut in and said, "You and your daughter are the last of your kind, so we won't kill you, and there is no reason to kill you. However, you will need to appear in court to plead your case, good luck," before he teleported. I backed away, relieved, and said, "You should have told me," and she said, "Don't hate me."

I smiled and said, "I could never hate you, I knew you were a succubus; I just wanted you to tell me, so I never mentioned it." I kissed her, and then I heard a throat clear, to see Samuel looking at us, and said, "Diana, she needs to know who I am." Diana went off on him and cursed him out; eventually, I calmed her down, but he was right. She hugged me, crying; I mind-linked him, "I will talk to Diana, but not now, I promise you, you will meet your daughter, give her time." I teleported my wife back to the hotel; I had forgotten the pizza, and sent the guard to get it for us. I need to spend this time with my family because Athena will learn of her biological father, and I want to treasure this moment before it changes for the better.
