Chapter 23: Lied to Or Not

1941 Words
Geoff I was in a meeting with Toffe; he had planned a business trip, which included King Squashi of Oceania, and they wanted to meet up with one of my detectives. His name was Cai Linderman, and he was one of the sea dwellers, as we call them here; however, I had never met one, and now, I will meet the King later. This wasn't a shock to me because I had met Prince Tibbs once before; well, king now, from what I gather. Things have changed so much in these past few years since I took over; my son was a teenager at the academy, and my daughters were in junior high school. Speaking of Julias, he had asked us about the truth surrounding his mother's death after hearing rumors at school, so Jerrod and I sat him down and told him the truth. He was angry until Aidan visited him and showed him what happened from their deaths to when his mother was obsessed with killing them. Aidan even showed why I chose to save them, and he came back to me and hugged me, he begged me never to leave him, and I promised it because I never would. Julias had no idea his parents were bad people, as Esmerelda hid most of her bad dealings from him. He was a kid, and now he knows, I respect that he still calls me Dad; Aidan saw his heart and said, "You did good, Geoff, he is genuine and loves you and Jerrod." Julias, however, wants to keep the bad boy persona at school to impress the girls, and I knew he got that from Jerrod for sure. Aidan looked at me and said, "Your bond isn't complete, there is a third," and I was shocked; he said, "You will meet them in due time," before he teleported. I hate when he just pops in and out, but being part of his court, I can do the same, and so does my team. Looking back, Aidan helped us with Julias, and I was grateful; however, I never told Jerrod about the third mate we would be expecting. Jerrod was the most loving and compassionate mate to me; I was glad I was able to give him his dream wedding a few years back, and I circled my ring on my finger deep in thought. I didn't hear Jerrod enter the office, but I picked up his scent and smiled, asking, "Why are you here, my love?" He was wearing my hoodie again; he claimed it calmed his wolf, and he was the perfect stay-at-home dad raising our kids, and he handed me a brochure about surrogacy. He wanted a child, and I got up and pulled him into a kiss and said, "We need to talk about something first, and hopefully it goes the way I think it would, and we won't need a surrogate." Jerrod was confused, and I told him about Aidan's visit about two weeks back when he helped out with Julias; he listened attentively and was shocked. He smiled and said, "Let's wait and see," before kissing me again; he moaned and said, "I have a lunch reservation at our favorite restaurant, let's go before things get heated," kissing my lips passionately again. I held his hand and teleported him to the front of the restaurant, and he said, "I will never get used to that," and we walked inside to have lunch. We were well respected by our people; we hardly had guards accompanying us, only the kids, and one station on Peggy always. I asked Peggy to meet with me tomorrow so we could talk things out once and for all; it's time we fixed our relationship for Rex's sake. After lunch, I watched Jerrod teleport home, and Peggy walked in and said, "I can't wait until tomorrow, I have something special planned for my husband," and sat down. ****** Cai I had finished my shift and headed out to the club to meet up with my family; I was shocked that my uncle and my brother, whom I had never met, were there. King Geoff had given me the news, and his Lune Jerrod had made the reservation for them, and my partner had left earlier to meet me at home later; we were having a secret affair because we worked together. I didn't want to be transferred, but we kept it professional and hung out in areas where no one would suspect anything. We are always careful when we are out on dates, usually in the town above ours, to be safe. I reached the bar and could sense the power of Prince Toffe in the building; he was not wielding his aura, but I guessed that was because of the drinks, which were very stiff in that place. I took my gun and badge off because I was about to have fun before I went home to be with my lover. I got to meet Tibbs, and I was able to bury the hatchet between my uncle and me, whom I had seen as my father for a long time. I considered him my dad, as he had raised me. We had a few drinks, talked about the snake, Teku, and made plans to start a plan tomorrow, so after my uncle left, I headed home. While driving home, I was thinking about what Toffe did in removing the spell after explaining the serial killings and Vivianne, an old evil witch. I pulled up in the garage and closed it as my lover, Crane, was there tonight. I walked in, and the house was dark and quiet, but the hallway was dim; I could see my dog, Finn, coming over to me, and I hugged her before she went back to bed. I pushed the door and I saw the shadow on the bed, so I went straight and took a shower, I felt nothing and I said, "f**k," feeling my heart break. I decided we would stay together until we both found our mates and went to bed naked, as it made no sense since we would tear them off later anyway. I got into bed, and Crane moaned; she rested her head on my chest, and I felt it, the sparks, the tingling, and my heart started beating fast. She was separated from her husband because we couldn't keep our hands off each other, and now I know why. Her husband knew she had left him for another man, but didn't know who it was, so we had to be careful, and I assured her he wasn't following her around. I was deep in thought when she grabbed my d**k and said, "You are home," before she felt the bond and looked at me shocked and said, "We're mates, how?" I explained what happened, and she felt the mark on her neck from her husband; she was spelled so that her husband wouldn't feel her being intimate with other people, and said, "Will he know now since the spell is gone?" I hugged her and promised to find out when I met up with Toffe, so we didn't have s*x at all, and we went back to bed. The next day, it was awkward between us, and Toffe walked in; he wanted to talk in private, so we teleported to the roof, and I asked him about my mate's husband finding out about us. We didn't trust him, but Crane could handle him, Toffe said, "He could block the bond from his end, but it's better she faces him and rejects him; you are protected, so don't worry about him." I nodded and asked about my brother; I felt good meeting him last night and patching things up with my uncle, but I still wasn't ready to rule Oceania because I love Crane and my job. Toffe smiled and said, "We have all the time in the world, Cai and Oceania will welcome you with open arms," and left. I walked back down to my desk and saw Officer Kim; she didn't look like herself today, and I stopped and asked, "Are you okay?" She smiled and said, "Yeah," before looking at her phone and walking off. ***** Princess Lucy/Kim I was looking into Beta Rex after he blew me off; he hadn't called since we argued about his wife and kids; he hated that I knew about them and punched me in the face, telling me to keep my mouth shut. I was shocked because he had never hit me before, and I used magic to hide my bruise the next day so as not to get my partner or colleagues involved. My heart was hurting because he was my mate, and I loved him, and after finding out his mate was chosen, it all made sense why I was mated to him. He was afraid to let his wife go, but I had lost my family and wasn't prepared to lose him; I was going to fight for him, even if it meant breaking them up and deciding to confront her. I left and went to the hospital where she worked; I never understood how I missed the public wedding, but I was imprisoned when it happened and never bothered to look up the royals. I always thought he was single until me, but it was his younger brother who was single and not mated; I hated this as I asked at the front desk for Doctor Masters-Penella. I waited in the waiting room and wondered why I never looked him up when we met; that was the first thing I should have done, but my mind was blank and jumbled when it came to him. I heard a soft voice saying, "Detective Kim," and I turned to see how beautiful she was; there was a fresh hickie on her neck, and I got jealous. I said, "I need to talk about something in private," when Beta Rex showed up with flowers and said, "Peggy," she turned to him and took the flowers, kissing his lips. He never acknowledged me, and I felt hurt and betrayed; I folded my fist in anger when she said, "Detective Kim is here to talk to me," and I smiled, whispering a spell, showing my bruised and swollen face. I was slowly healing because I was an ancestral witch off her ancestral land and had never really gotten to practice since leaving prison, so I healed very slowly. I said, "Please, I don't want this to get out," and Rex looked at me, shocked, and asked, "May I ask who did that?" I looked at him and realized what a good actor he was; I saw the ring on his finger that busted my lip and let my tears flow, and said, "My mate," shocking him and his wife. I was led to her office, and he walked us to the door and said, "I will pick you up at seven," kissing her again before looking at me and saying, "Don't cover for him, he is a bad mate if he abuses you; second chances are a thing now, so don't tie yourself to him," before leaving. I looked at Dr. Penella as she patched me up and gave me a few days off to heal properly. I decided not to say anything until the time was right; she seemed like a nice lady, but Rex would pay for treating me like his w***e, and since he wanted to ignore me, I might have to drive her away from him.
