Chapter 21: Old Friends & Family

Geoff

I had my kids, who were in their car seats along with their nanny at their side, and were driving; Jerrod was riding shotgun. Julius was affected most by his mother's death, and he was asleep. Jerrod held my hand as we drove over the border to Rogueland; people were lined up to welcome back their new King, and I was surprised as I pulled up to the mansion to see Rex and Cole, whom I would make my Beta and Gamma, respectively. We were welcomed as the servants helped with my kids; Cole lifted my son and took him to his room. Security was tight around the mansion, but I saw everyone bow, and I knew it was Ryker and Ty pulling up behind me. Ty mind-linked everyone to get up, and we walked inside to start on business and made future changes that needed to be made.

Jerrod kissed me, and Rex smiled, saying, "So, you bat for the other team," and I growled before everyone laughed and Rex said, "It doesn't change anything, you are our King," and took a knee. Ty looked at me and said, "I am not taking a knee," and Ryker looked at me and said, "Nice ass," and I growled, they were having fun with this. I saw Peggy behind everyone, and I knew I had to talk to her, but I had no choice but to put it off until after the meeting. I turned to see Breton holding some papers in his hand and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty." I knew he was Jerrod's best friend, so I offered him the post of royal Delta, and he smiled, accepting it; Jerrod smiled, and he had to be with the kids while the meeting began. After the meeting and the announcement was made, I was crowned, and I reached out to Peggy, and now, she was getting married to my best friend.

Present time

I woke up to the sun on my face after dreaming about the night I hurt Peggy; it still haunted me, and I needed to fix our friendship for Rex's sake. When we hang out, she never attends because she doesn't want to be around me, leaving Rex as the odd man out, but he never stays long and goes home to her. We never blame him, that's his wife; Jerrod was already out of bed, and I got up to shower and join my family for breakfast. The kids were eating, and Jerrod was making sure they were ready for school; it's been two years since I took over Rogueland, and things were looking up for us. I kissed his lips and saw Gunner walk in, ruffle my son's hair, and kiss the girls on their cheeks; I saw Rex walk in with his baby in his arms and put her in the high chair. She was almost two now, and I loved seeing Rex this happy; Cole joined us, and his woman kissed him and left.

Peggy joined us, bowed her head at me, and kissed her husband; she was wearing her doctor's coat and scrubs, grabbed her coffee, and then I asked her, "What is the plan for the day at the clinic?" She looked at me and said, "I will have time to see the kids in the afternoon." She didn't look me directly in the eyes as usual; it's like she could never face me after I broke her heart, and I feel like I handled the situation badly in the way I told her. She kissed the top of her daughter's head and walked out, heading to the clinic; Rex looked at me and sighed, he mind-linked me, "We will talk later." Later in the office, I had just finished a meeting when Rex walked in and sat in the chair in front of me. I smiled and said, "Business is looking good," and he said, "Yep, the investments are insane, we are officially billionaires."

Eventually, we finished with business, and he said, "Peggy wants us to move out of the palace and stay on the property not far away." I smiled and said, "It's fine, Rex, she hates me," and he said, "She never got over the hurt and the betrayal, but she is trying her best, she doesn't trust you because you have proven to break your word." I smiled, and he said, "She wants everything in writing since you broke your word to her, and she has a copy of the marriage contract in a safe." I agreed to let them move if it would make it easier for Rex; he loves Peggy, everyone saw that, but they also saw her hatred for me. I never thought I would be on the receiving end of her hate; I made bad choices, and it cost us a friendship. However, it hasn't stopped us from being professional with each other, and I looked out the window thinking about my first wife and my brother.

I hadn't thought about them in years, and asked Rex, "Do you think of getting back home?" He said, "Nope, I love it here, it wasn't the best in the beginning, but look what we are building here, it's home." I looked at the construction building, and all the infrastructure, and now we will be a tourist city in no time. He said, "Falcon is an asshole, I could send someone to find out what is happening over there," and I stopped him and said, "I don't want to know, this is home like you said." I smelled my mate's scent and Rex said, "Talk to you later, I've got a doctor to take to lunch," and I smiled, watching him leave and Jerrod enter with lunch. He made it a habit of bringing lunch if I couldn't make it home for lunch; I kissed his lips, and we sat down to eat. He said, "Peggy's birthday is coming up, maybe we should hold a dinner in her honor," and it sounded like a good idea if only she would accept it.

I was pounding into my wife from behind; her moans were loud in the room; I didn't go into the office today, but I couldn't help it when she was all sexy in my bed. She was right, and I kissed her lips, saying, "We will forget about him like the elders say, he was stripped from our history, and our bloodline will always run this pack." She asked, "What if he comes back and wants to take over?" I said, "He isn't worried about us, and I will send someone to infiltrate his pack and report to us his every move." She hugged me and said, "Good, we have a good life here, and nothing or no one will take it from us."

I went back to the office and read up on my brother as the Rogue King; I smiled because this was the first time I had seen a picture of him smiling. He was on the front cover of a magazine with his mate in the background, and I was shocked he batted for the other team; however, I didn't care about his sexuality. I had wronged him in the past because I was in love with Verlene, the affair happened naturally, and I never expected to get caught the way we were. He came home early, and we had to improvise to save ourselves; our plan to take over had come to fruition earlier than expected. We knew what he was going to do to us, so we did it to him, and it ultimately worked out in our favor. I looked up to see my mother looking at me and said, "You need to make up with Geoff so I can see him; lift the ban, Falcon."

I told her, "I will think about it; I have plans to visit him soon," and she smiled and kissed my cheek before leaving; honestly, I wasn't going to do any of that, but I did lift the ban to make her think I was working on it. I sent for my spy, Joles, who had ties with Rogueland, so I explained what I needed him to do. He left; he was good at what he did, so I would wait until it was a good time to seek out Geoff and maybe patch things up between us without him revealing what we had done years ago. I looked at my beta, and he said, "If the elders find out, we are all in on getting rid of Geoff, we will lose everything," I said, "I know, but we need to know where his head is so he remains where he is, and we live out our lives in peace until I step down and make my son Alpha."
