Lucas gave me a cold look after asking me to pack my stuff. I was immediately confused by what he said. For heaven's sake, why would I pack? A few more seconds later, I realized that I'm already following him all the way to our room even though I have no idea what the heck is going on.
I had no idea about his sudden panic, but it all began when he received that phone call earlier. I could see he was struck by that. I wanted to know everything about it and who called him, but I knew he would never let me meddle in his affairs. After a few moments, Madam Theresa entered the room and assisted me in packing my things. She seemed rushed and worried. So I seized the opportunity to ask her, as she was the only one I could speak with in this house.
"What's going on? Why do we have to make this urgent?" I inquired.
"There's no more time to explain, Miss Bella. The Master wanted you to fix your things, and he has no time to wait. So, let's make this thing fast for you to get ready," she responded.
All the details and questions swirled around in my thoughts after hearing those words. Since none of my questions received an acceptable response, I find it difficult to process stuff. Lucas was impatient to speak with me, and Madam Theresa kept shifting the topic of our conversations. Is this the real consequence of sticking with this guy?
It's almost midnight since we left the house, and one thing I'm grateful for is seeing Mr. Thompson again. At least I knew he was fine after what I did to him. Right now, I was sitting next to Lucas on our way to a place I had no idea about. They always do this to me. They kept taking me anywhere they wanted.
I became even more intrigued as we ran into a big building. Lucas got out of the car, so I followed him. I kept quiet as I observed the surroundings. Besides, Lucas can't blame me for following him because he didn't offer me any hints about our destination. We used the elevator to get to the building's rooftop. I was surprised to see a jet waiting for us.
"Welcome aboard, Mr. and Mrs. Dyson!" Derek smiled as he greeted us.
"Shut it, Derek. She's not even a Dyson yet! Just take me out of here," Lucas demanded.
Derek is his best friend. He's a Beta. He's such a help to us when we were little. He shrugged and took the pilot's seat while the two of us proceeded inside the plane. There were two seats and one table reserved specifically for us. We both sat there, and the jet eventually took off. Derek revealed our landing site, and that was the only time I knew where Lucas was taking me. That place was like a province, and I'd never tried to go there before. Why would it be that far?
As we both took our seats, here we go again. There was something strange between us. He gives me the impression that he has no interest in talking to me, yet I was quite curious about everything!
"Could you please tell me what's going on?" I immediately requested.
Because of that, he fixed his gaze on me. He laughed out of disbelief after what I said. What's so funny about my question?
With a raised eyebrow, he leaned in my direction. He seemed to be interested in something.
He asked, "Are you sure you didn't know why?"
"Can you just spit it out? Don't leave me hanging!" I yelled.
He leaned back in his seat, folded his arms, and responded, "You just put the two of us in danger."
Upon hearing those words, my confusion regarding what he said only grew. I expected responses to clear up any confusion, but he only added to it. How could I possibly endanger both of us?
"Those guys who attacked you were hunting me. Someone wanted me dead, maybe from another pack. So because they heard about you as my Luna, you are now the second target." He then laughed.
I shook my head after hearing what he said. I assumed that the only problem I would face was being this guy's wife. I had no idea there was more to it!
I assumed that the only challenging position would be that of leading the pack, as Sir Alexander was doing to us. Lucas was also in danger, and he isn't even the Alpha King yet. The other packs were similarly interested in one another's wealth. Given the Dysons' riches and territory, it's easy to see why others wanted to attack them. Furthermore, Lucas was correct since I will soon become a Dyson, they will also hunt me. What am I going to do? I am stuck in this situation. So how about that? I mean, what more could I ask for? My life is a complete disaster! Can I just disappear and forget about all of this?
It was almost one in the morning when we arrived at our destination. I was quite sleepy, and I admit that I became too exhausted. Take note: it's only the second day, yet it feels like forever. I was dealing with a lot of issues. I suppose working would be more exciting than sticking with this person. All my body wanted was a comfy bed so I could finally fall asleep.
We traveled for a while till we came across a single-story rest house. It was simple, but appealing. I couldn't describe the place enough because I was exhausted from walking and struggling to stay awake.
As soon as he unlocked the door, I stepped inside, ignoring everything I'd brought from the trip. That would probably have been arranged by his bodyguards anyway. I went straight to the bedroom, took off my sandals, and hopped into bed. I tightly hugged the pillow and muttered, "Finally!"
After a few moments, I felt sudden movements inches away from me. I was taken aback when I realized he was already lying next to me in bed. His eyes were closed, as if he was prepared to sleep.
"What are you doing?" I asked in shock, still laying in bed.
"There's only one bed, so I had no other choice," he said, his eyes still closed.
I instantly pushed him away from me, but he refused to move.
"Don't act virgin; we just slept together in the same bed last night," he said.
I had a sudden urge to push him again, but to my astonishment, he grabbed my hand and pinned me to the bed. He was on top of me, and it made my heart race. Then the door burst open and Derek came in with a few of our belongings. The sight stunned him immediately.
Derek exclaimed, "What a view!" and left the bags beside the door. He said, "Enjoy your night," once more before shutting the door and grinning.
Lucas let go of me right away. Leaving me in astonishment as I lay in bed.
"Stay there; I'll just sleep somewhere else," he stated. Then he left the room and closed the door.
