Fireworks continued even once July passed, the romantic kind between August and Memo, the kind teens and young adults were still setting off on summer nights, and the kind that divided the town.
August’s mother stood with a clipboard outside various local grocery stores nearly three entire days to collect signatures on a petition to convince the county FD to allow August to appear in the calendar.
