Blake pov
I held the announcements in my hand as different thoughts ran through my mind, My father is among the werewolf council, to the point I am considered one of the few werewolves who had status in the pack. I saw the Alpha recently and I was mesmerized by her beauty, the way she speaks, her manner of approach and her figure, her black eyes looked like one who had tales to tell.
I am an omega, omega was considered one of the lowest ranks in the wolf race, omegas were subjected to torture, shame, and ridicule by other ranks. It's rare for an omega to acquire a reputable position in the werewolf council.
I had met the Alpha long before now, although at the moment I met her, I did not know she was the ruler of the pack, I thought she was just one of the few Alphas that the werewolf race had. It just so happened that on that fateful day, I went to the forest to go and hunt, on my way back from the hunt, I met a wolf trying to remove its tail from a tree trunk, and I went to its rescue
The first time I saw her, my heart skipped a bit, I thought that it was a normal thing because the circumstance that I met her was a dangerous one.
FLASHBACK
I had just returned from hunting when I saw a white wolf on the floor trying to remove its tail from the tree trunk, I removed the tree trunk from the tail and it was finally free. Looking at me with orange eyes, it wagged its tail and entered deep into the forest. I stood there perplexed not knowing what to do. After a while, a young girl emerged out of the depths of the forest, she had blue eyes so I wondered if she was the white wolf or another person.
She came close to me, gratitude laced in those blue eyes of hers
"Thanks," she said
I smiled as I nodded at her, she was such a beauty, with black long hair reaching her waistline, a slim fitted jeans trousers, and a red top gracing her slender body, her big brown eyes stared deep within me as I gulped down saliva
"You're welcome, it's no big deal," I said
I was already moving out when her voice stopped me
"I'm Olivia, an Alpha," she said.
The words that wanted to come out of my mouth hung up in my throat, and reluctantly I said
"Blake, an omega"
I turned to look at her face expecting to see ridicule and mockery hidden behind those eyes, yet, I found none.
BACK TO PRESENT
Recalling that particular day, I smiled. She was the only person who did not look down on me because I had a low rank. From that day our friendship started, we interacted as bosom friends and not as one whose rank was higher than the other. The respect she showed towards me was genuine not like others who respected me because of my father's position as a beta and one of the leaders in the werewolves council.
We talked and the relationship between us grew from friendship to acquaintances. All this while I never knew she had a hidden identity - the ruler of the werewolf's pack. She was always simple and an easygoing type, I was never one who believed in love because I thought love was a fantasy with no happy ending.
All this while I never knew that I had already started developing affection for her, my heart which was already closed to love had begun to open back, I hated all the emotions I felt whenever I looked at her, trying all possible best to avoid her.
A hand was placed on my shoulders, I felt goosebumps all over my body. I noticed that anytime I am around my "father", I do feel a chill running down my spine as goosebumps can be seen all over my body.
"Are you okay son??" His cold voice sounded in my ears as drums of war, I gulped down saliva as I stared at him, hoping within me that he did not notice the fear that was hidden behind my calm look.
"I'm fine, " I answered
His black eyes scanned me as sweat began pouring out of my face. Up till this present moment, I wonder why there's always thick tension between my father and me.
I mean he's my father and I am meant to have this cordial relationship with him but yet, it's as though anytime his presence is near, there's an unseen battle between father and son.
My father sat beside me and there was silence radiating in the air, the place was becoming too uncomfortable, too suffocating that I had to take my leave
"I'm leaving, Father," I said
My father looked at me with confusion laced in those black eyes of his, the seconds I spent with my father looked like I had ventured into the depths of hell, every moment I spent in his presence was extra pain and torture, I had already begun feeling weak on my knees before I heard a voice that brought me out of such hell
"You're permitted to leave," he said
With a smile on my face, I left his presence, my clothes were already soaked with sweat, and with my soaked shirt, I went to deliver a message. After the delivery of the message, I went home to change. Getting to the house I saw the house open, this left me in utmost shock because I left my father's presence, and my father does not leave his house open for visitors, he feels it's not safe.
Entering the house I met Olivia and her friend, the one who I was running away from finally landed at my doorstep. Why is today so full of troubles and uncertainty, I wondered.
I was a little bit angry with her because she had a hidden identity and she did not bother to let me know - the ruler of the pack. Well, what can I do?? Not that my anger will remove her from the position or cause something bad to happen to her.
Coming out, a pair of blue jean trousers on a black shirt graced my slender body. The two of our eyes met as the time seemed to stop. The atmosphere was silent as pins were afraid to fall, she finally broke the silence by saying
"Sorry," she said.
I was transfixed at a spot as I wondered why the Alpha of the pack would be apologizing to me
"This is what I was trying to avoid," she said.
Looking at her, the confusion in my face reflected in my eyes as I wondered what she meant.
"Let's still be friends, don't cause a gap, it's killing me". Olivia said
The confusion in my eyes cleared as the three of us headed to the library, our mission to the library yet unknown.
