Chapter Four

1049 Words
Elsie felt so lonely on her first day on campus. She hid her face inside her blanket and cried for some time. As she still lay on the top bed, someone tapped her on the back. She turned to see who it was. 'Hi, I'm Melody, and you?', a girl with grey hair, a pretty freckled face, and a love-shaped lip said to her. 'I'm Elsie', she responded nicely. Later, she realized that Melody and the other girls, Jessie, Ellen, and Rosa were all her roommates. Unrelated as they were, they behaved as if they already knew each other. There was still one person remaining to make their room full. She hoped that the remaining one too would be as cool as those she had met already. In the morning the next day, Elsie prepared herself as quickly as possible to join the school orientation organized for the first year. She left with her roommate, Melody, to join the gathering. While she was at the meeting, Anne called her and informed her that she was also in the school at that very moment. Elsie told her to come and join the gathering and she agreed to do so right after she had taken her items to the hostel she had. At the gathering, Anne and Elsie searched for each other but to no avail. They decided to meet after the social meeting instead. After the meeting, Anne searched for Elsie but she didn't find her because Elsie left for their hostel right after the gathering. She claimed that she had a severe headache so Melody gave her some painkillers and she took it and slept afterward. Anne called Elsie several times on the phone and even sent her some text messages but her phone was on mute mode so it didn't wake her up. She finally got tired of waiting and marched to their hostel. Later, Elsie woke up and saw her friend's missed calls and messages, she quickly got up to go to the location Anne sent to her that they should meet some minutes ago. When she got there Anne wasn't around so she also called Anne and explained herself. She begged her dear friend to come and meet her and she finally agreed. When Anne arrived, Elsie rushed to her and hugged her. They were both excited to be together in the same school once again. Later after their long unending conversation, they all decided to move to their hostels. Elsie promised Anne that she would go and visit her in her hostel another day. They walked together until they got to a place where they left each other When Anne got to their hostel, She entered her room and was surprised to see Elsie seated on a top bed in the room. When Elsie too saw her, she said,' What are you doing here Anne'?. 'I am a member of this room, Elsie,' Anne replied. 'Me too,' said Elsie as both of them burst into laughter. The other girls watched them and smiled. Life on the university campus wasn't easy but with all the hard times, happy times, and serious times, the two best friends made sure that they encouraged each other and kept on moving. After four years, they both graduated with great results. Elsie graduated with second class upper in B. A in education and Anne with a first class in computer science. Anne was employed right after school because her kind of certificate was admired everywhere in employing workers. She hoped that Elsie too got employed as soon as possible. A year later, Elsie heard of a company in New York City seeking for workers to employ. She was perfectly qualified for the job when she read their requirements information. She told her mother about the work but her mom advised her to stay in Texas and work as a teacher. She told her mom that anyone who had the chance to be employed there would have access for his or her family and a self-free health care delivery assurance. The salary would also be so sufficient for his or her basic upkeep. After Elsie explained why she preferred work in New York to teaching, her mother told her that there is high spending in New York and things are expensive there but still she insisted and promised her mom that she would visit her occasionally. When Elsie landed in New York City, she went to stay with her mother's friend, Northerly, whom her mom had informed about her arrival. Northerly's house was not far from the company. On the evening of her arrival, Northerly told her how rich the boss of the company was. He was popularly known as Hard H. He was a billionaire, musician, and an actor. His company, which Elsie was looking forward to being employed in was opened just a month ago. The company was known for fashion and designing, modeling, and other entertaining aspects, Northerly told Elsie. That night, Elsie couldn't sleep, she thought of how to be persuasive to gain a job in the company, known as "Hard H fashion home." Early morning the next day, Elsie got herself prepared to leave for the interview. Northerly dropped her at the company and left for her work. After the boss of the company himself had seen almost all those seeking for job, he employed only twenty and claimed that only eight were remaining for him to select and the rest should go and seek for other jobs. The company attendants selected a few people who had the best qualifications to enter and wished the rest good luck. Elsie was very lucky to be part of the few selected people. She sat at the last seat and saw to it that everybody met the boss, remaining only her. When she entered the boss' office, he asked her to sit down and she did humbly. The boss mentioned her name even before she said anything. She wasn't surprised because she thought that his active workers might have told him. She smiled as she answered every question he asked her. He immediately asked her to leave her contact information with his receptionist, he would look for her. She did so obediently and hoped that he offered her the job.
