The Inevitable Disaster

Chapter Five

Northerly returned home late at night, looking very tired. She met Elsie sitting on a chair in her living room and watching an interesting movie on her television. She knew that Elsie hadn't eaten anything so she bought some snacks on her way to the house. Elsie upon seeing her, sat straight and greeted her. Northerly introduced the snacks she'd bought for her, Elsie took it excitedly. Elsie thanked Northerly for caring for her.

When they were done eating together, Northerly asked Elsie about the interview and she told her that everything was good. She also told her that she was hoping that the boss would select her. Northerly wished her good luck and left for her room.

As Elsie sat alone in the living room, an unknown number called her on her mobile phone. She wasn't sure of who it was so she delayed answering the call. The same number called for the second time and she still refused to answer but for the third time, she felt it could be Anne or her mommy so she decided to answer it. To her surprise this time around, it was neither her mom nor Anne. It was Henry's old number which she had tried all her best to reach some years passed but was to no avail. She couldn't believe what her eyes were seeing because she thought his number had been missen for a long time. She gave up thinking of Henry because she thought that he might have long time dumped her. While she was still in her long thought, the call ended. Elsie didn't realize the time she started crying. As she was still crying, Henry called her again. This time, she answered the call.

Both:(breathing heavily) Henry was quiet for some time and so was Elsie.

Henry: “I actually,(stammering)... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disappear from your life all of a sudden. I still love you and I want to meet you, my dear”.

Elsie on the other hand was crying silently. She finally told Henry to shut up.

Elsie: you have already put me through pains than I could handle and for that matter, I am not ready for your love. "Never again, Never!, I can't hurt myself anymore", stated Elsie in a painful tone.

Elsie: beep beep, She finally ended the call.

Early in the morning the next day, Elsie received an email in which she was informed that she was needed at the company. She hurriedly prepared herself and because Northerly wasn't ready at that time, she left alone. When she got to the company, she was told right at the reception that the boss himself wanted to meet her. She skipped several people who were waiting to be called into the secretary's office. Hard H's secretary was the one to select all the remaining workers needed and he would approve or disapprove her selection.

As for Elsie, she didn't have to pass through the process because the boss himself ordered her to see her. She was surprised by the way she was treated very special that day. She was eager to hear that she had been selected to work in one of the fantastic companies in New York City.

Elsie upon entering Hard H's office, he welcomed her and gave her a seat. He congratulated her with a handshake and told her that she had been employed as a worker in his company. Elsie didn't realize when she exclaimed, wow! She thanked the boss and asked for his permission to leave. You didn't ask me what your work is going to be questioned by the boss. “Sorry sir”, Elsie said as she sat attentively. Don't worry, announced the boss calmly.

I want you to be my special assistant. “You're going to be the one to take care of what I’ll be wearing whenever I'm going for a show and other gatherings”, said the boss. “You would be in charge of approving every new designer outfit produced by the workers and I would be the final person to check all the processes. I hope you can handle this job, said the boss”. “Yes sir, and thanks so much for this favor”, said Elsie. It's my pleasure, replied the boss.

Elsie left the boss' office so excited. Everyone who saw her knew that she had been employed. When she got outside the company, she walked straight on the busy streets very fast. She was in a hurry to get home because she wanted to meet Northerly home and tell her the good news.

On the other hand, Hard H came out of his office and asked one of his workers to close his office because he was leaving for an important task. He used the other route to get outside the company because he didn't like anyone to see him that easily. He sat in his car as his driver drove him away. When he got to their house, he quickly entered his room and wore one of his old outfits which he used to wear when he lived in Texas. When he came outside of their wonderful house, he took one of the commonest cars in the town and decided to go out with it. The car was common but very nice and had an affordable price.

He finally called one of his workers whom he had asked to follow Elsie. The worker gave him the direction of where Elsie was and he quickly drove to Northerly's house. When Hard H got to the place, he asked his worker to go back to work and he obeyed. Hard H entered Northerly's cute house with his car. When he parked his car, the security guard asked him whom he was looking for and he said, Elsie.

The security guard called Elsie to inform her that she had a visitor and she asked him to make the visitor wait in their garden and he obeyed. Everyone who saw Hard H would never recognize that it was him because his dress changed him completely. Elsie finally went out to see who her visitor was. When she got to the garden, she saw a young man whose back was facing her. "Who are you"? Elsie asked as she kept a distance between herself and the man.

Hard H turned his face to Elsie and she exclaimed, Henry!
