introduction

Prologue:

The night council, consisting of a prestigious member of each species. Vampires, Werewolf, Nymphs, Demon, and Witches. Its influence isn’t limited to a place but to everything that surrounds us. Its laws are clear. Under no circumstances can humans know of its existence. No members can fall in love with humans or mate with them. The consequence will be deadly.

Maggie has a perfect life.  A group of friends that she adores. A loving family. A dream in which she spends all her time and energy to make it become a reality. Until one day her world is turned upside down.

Chapter 1:

Maggie POV

My name is Maggie Simons and I am 17 years old. I am a senior in high school and will be turning 18 in 3 weeks. I grew up in a town called Ajax. We consider it as behind a small town but outsiders view it as a big city. It has everything that you need a walkable distance, from the stores to restaurants to the beach and the forest. But everyone knows each other and there is no privacy. But I can’t complain because I have everything that I need from my best friends from kindergarten Daniella, Morgan, Kaitlyn, and Megan. To my wonderful family but I will exclude my brother Tom because he is a jerk. Since he is in college I just do as if he never existed. My family isn’t rich but we aren’t poor either. My parent worked their butts off to offer us a life full of love and I am every day thankful for it.

I have never been a fan of Mondays because It is always an indicator that a week went by. I always have difficulties waking up but I also have difficulties sleeping because once I am awake a can’t find it in my to sleep. I don’t have enough with just 24 h a day. Anyways, I get up and shower. I can’t style my hair because they are short and I love it. I wear my favorite pair of jeans that make my booty looks delicious and a strapless blue t-shirt. With a beautiful pair of matching earrings and necklace. The black boots with small heels that I bought in Zara last week with a black leather jacket. My make-up is flawless and I feel confident for the days.

I get down and sees my parents eating their breakfast at the table. I kiss each of them before sitting down to eat the pancake, eggs, and bacon that my mother made.

Mom:‘’ Honey, your dad and I will be gone on our cruise for two weeks. Don’t forget that all the information in case of emergency is on the fridge and Madam Legrand our next-door neighbor is aware of it and is there in case.’’

Me: ‘’ I thought you were supposed to go the April 13. ‘’

Mom: ‘’ yes, as in today the 13 of April’’

Me: ‘’Oh I forgot’’

Dad: ‘’ Aren’t your friend coming over’’

Me: ‘’ Yes, after school, they will come to stay with me since you will be gone.’’

Dad: ‘’Remember no alcohol and no boys’’

Me: ‘’ I know dad, plus I don’t have a boyfriend’’

Dad: ‘’ Good to hear.’’

I just rolled my eyes at his responses. Breakfast is over usually over fast because we don’t talk much in the morning. I take my thing and get to the car that my parents brought me. A beautiful red mini copper that I receive for my seventeen birthday.

I always take Daniella and Megan to school since they don’t have a permit. They both failed their driver's license exam but for two different reasons. Don’t get me started with that I don’t understand how they did it since it is pretty easy. I wait in front of Megan's house since she is the nearest to my house. But Meg and Dany both live near each other so I don’t have to go far. Megan is the first one to come. She has always been the leader in our group, she is so determined and always so courageous and bold that I admire her for it. She is a beautiful girl who measures up to 5’’ 7 from Congo with big hazel eyes, a big kissable lip, and dark curly hair. She sometimes reminds me of those model that you sees in commercials. Especially today, with her gray jumper and withe ballerina.

Daniella is always late. Well, she is the cheerleading team captain and she always looks flawless. She never lets anyone influence her decision and never lets pressure gets to her. She is the most popular girl in our school. With her long blond hair and beautiful blue eyes. She captures people's hearts without putting efforts. People are drawn to her involuntarily. When she comes out of her house and comes towards us. I can’t stop looking at her and think about the poor guys in our school.

When she sat down I drives us to our school which is only 10 minutes away. I park the car in one of the parking that is located near the gymnast because the ones that are left are those reserve for the Danfried kids. They are the one that lives on Danfried road. Is it like a village in itself within our town with all those big houses and the gates that separate our town from theirs? Nobody that I know has ever set foot beyond the gates. When people tried to they disappear. Even the parking is off-limits because when people try to take them there is always a danfried member that will humiliate that person in front of everyone and nobody's ever says anything or do something. I a not going to risk it all just for a place of parking.

Morgan and Kaitlyn are waiting for us in front of the school. Morgan is a red hair green eyes girl. She is 5 ft and has shoulder-length hair like mine. He is the most thoughtful in our group. She doesn’t talk much but went she does she uses her world wisely and she is a generous listener. Kaitlyn is the polar opposite she talks all the time and she super tall.   She takes pride in her appearance. She has long brown hair and blue eyes. We all hugged each other and enter school. We were planning what we will do in my house when my parents will be away. When we heard some girls screaming the name of Jacob.

We all turned because we knew he is never alone. Always surrounded by his friend Aedan and Caden who are brothers. Everyone called them the gods because they are beautiful likes, like Greek gods. Jacob is 6Ft 2, he is considering has Mister right, perfect in everything that he does, faithful, honest, defends people against injustice, and is respectful of others. Caden is known as the bad boy, He changes his girlfriend as he changes his underwear, he is confident with is 6ft with 3 beautiful smile and he always challenges himself. He has short hair that always looks messy but is styled that way purposely and has a beautiful body that he doesn’t hide in his clothes. Aedan is the more mature one of their trio, He is 6ft 2, with curly black hair and plump lips. He always acts like a gentleman and you can tell that he is a leader with his 6 packs that are in full display through his shorts.

We all have a crush on those guys since elementary school. We all grew up together since the town isn’t exactly big. But I don’t think they even know that we exist since they live in Danfried road. Away from the regular people. They never had a girlfriend who didn’t live in Danfried. When I said never I mean ever. People from Danfried always sting together they never mix up with us. Others have tried before but it never resulted in the way they wished. They either got a gold shoulder or just plain disgust in their interlocutor's face.

For as long as I can remember I have never seen one of them even look at anyone in the eyes. It has if we don’t exist. But today is different, for some reason Aedan keeps on looking in our ways. I don’t know why but that simple action causes my heart to go on a marathon. My breath was stuck in my throat all along. I was getting lost in his beautiful gray eyes. The first bell snaps me out of my trance. I said bye to my friend and went to my literature class with Morgan has the other when separate ways.

Aedan POV:

Today seems to be a long day. It all started well at first, I woke up and shower. Then, I went downstairs to grab breakfasts with the rest of the pack until I was reminded that it is my 18 birthday. By my mother, which has been waiting for these days ever since I was born because it means that I am supposed to feel for the first time my mating bond. She has never been happier because she will get to have the daughter that she always dreams of having. I wanted to be able to meet my mate when I will be at least 25 years old so that I will have enough time to get a costume to my position as the alpha of the pack and replacing my father in the night council. It has been an honor for my family to represent our species in the council because it proves that people have faith in us and believed in us. I have big shoes to feel. My ancestor Kadin the second was at that period the alpha king. But, he realizes that during that period things were not going well for the knight creatures as they were being killed, chased, and hunted. So he chooses to sacrifice his power and influence to create the council so that we all could vanquish our enemies together. Ever since that days, we have been living peacefully among ourselves.

It explained the reason why we don’t date humans. Because everyone has been punished because a long time ago a human fell in love with one of our kind and she accused. It was one of those tragic love stories where the girl fells in love with a mated man and he didn’t share her feeling and rejected her love. To retaliate she told everyone this man was a monster who could become a wolf during the night a that he had killed children. So people went on a witch hunt. They didn’t know how to differentiate a wolf from a demon or vampire. So, they killed everyone.

Today, the rules are strict about our interaction with a human. They must be limited or non-existing. They have been made this way so that the kind of situation we were in in the past doesn’t happen again. Humans have never been a sign of anything good for us.

I finish eating and drives to school, I could help myself from imagining my mate. Is she tall or short, does she has blond or red or back hair, does she likes cuddling more, or is she more the kissing type... All those thoughts field my brain. I arrived at school only to be met with the devouring eyes of human girls, looking me up and down as if I was the last candy in a candy store. I kept ignoring on ignoring them as I made my way to my looker. On my way, I saw Jacob my best friend, and my brother Caden. They were talking to some of the football players that are part of our community.

I said Hi to everyone and tried to start a conversation with a couple of them but people were already starting to disperse when I go there. So, I just mostly talk to Jacob and Caden. They both wished me a happy birthday and I thanked them. We were going in the direction of our class when a girl screams Jacob's names so we just stopped to see you it was. We couldn’t because we were submerged in a sea of human girl lurking around us likes sharks.

That is when I got hit with the most beautiful smell ever. It was a mixture of vanilla, citrus, and roses. I was trying to figure out the provenance of it when I saw this group of 5 girls a little bit secluded that were looking our way. My eyes caught sight of the most beautiful big hazel eyes and were being drawn to them. I had the feeling as if my world was being shaped around those eyes and I couldn’t even blink my eyes because I was afraid of losing them. The bell rang and we finally were able to move more freely. But I couldn’t erase those eyes from my mind. I had to discover who did they belong to
