CHAPTER FIVE I drove into the center of town wanting to find the butcher shop and get a feel for the place. The “Maryville Meats” store was small, but painted in bright, sunshine yellow colors. Cartoon cows, sheep, and pigs decorating the outside, making it appear larger. Situated on a corner street, the shop had large metal side gates. On one side stood a modest sporting goods shop, on the opposite corner a two-buck novelty store. The large front windows were covered with signs for today’s specials. With the Thanksgiving holiday just finished, turkey and ham stayed on sale for Christmas. I wondered if the Cutlers still owned it?
