CHAPTER TEN
I woke from a dreamless sleep, still upset after my early morning revelation and all the mysteries it contained. At least now I understood the feelings I had been unable to control.
With the entire morning to myself before I had to catch up with Andi, I headed to the local police station once more to check a few details.
Delvene manned the front counter again.
“Oh, look who’s back. Did you finish reading that whole box already?”
She smiled when I stepped into the room, the door closing behind me. The office seemed quiet first thing on a weekend.
“Good morning, Delvene. I have. I took a crash course in speed reading, but I still want to hang on to the files, if that’s okay?” I flashed her a smile. “I know it’s Saturday, but any chance the Chief is in today?”
