Episode Twelve

*Kim Mansion*

(6 p.m., Doctor Chen arrives at Kim Mansion)

Mrs Kim: Good evening, doctor Chen. (Faking a smile.)

Doctor Chen: Good evening, Shania. (Shania is her middle name.) (Looking at her dark circles.) I hope everything is fine.

Mrs. Kim: Yes, I am fine.

Doctor Chen: if you say so." (Looking around) Where is Kim?

Mr Kim: I am here (coming down the stairs).

Doctor Chen: Come here and hug me. (Spreads his arm)

Mr Kim: Evening, Chen. (He walks up to him and hugs him)

Doctor Chen: How are you doing? You sound stressed.

Mrs. Kim: Let me go check the dining room. (She left them and walked into the dining room.)

Doctor Chen: Even your wife appears stressed with the dark circles on her face.

Mr. Kim: Well, Chen, there is a real issue, but first, let us eat.

Mrs Kim: The food is ready; let us eat. (She exits the room and then returns.)

Doctor Chen: Is it about your wife's condition or your health? (Facing Mr. Kim)

Mr Kim: it is about my son, Gem. (In a worried expression)

Doctor Chen: Gem, what happened to him!? Is he fine?

Mr Kim: Chen, calm down. Let us eat first, then talk.

Doctor Chen: For what you just said, no, I am not hungry; where is he?

Mr. Kim: sleeping in his room.

Four: Aunt, Uncle, gem is burning hot and has a fever. Please come check on him; his temperature is high.

(They all rushed to his room and found him lifeless on the bed, sweating.)

Doctor Chen: What have you been doing with this boy? Can you not take him to the hospital? (in a concerned look)

Four: he refuses to go. (Stepping on a bottle next to the bed. He bends down, picks it up, and opens it.

Doctor Chen: What is that? (Notice the bottle in his hand)

Four: slee....ping pills. It is empty. (Fearfully staring at gem)

Mrs. Kim: (noticing four) What is it four?

Doctor Chen: I think he used the owe pills. Chen, get the car; we are going to the hospital right now. (He walks over to Gem and pulls him up from the bed. He turns his back and rubs it before hitting his back quite hard.

Mr. Kim: Why are you hitting him?

Doctor Chen: to get him to throw up the pills before we rushed him to the hospital. Go get the car ready!

Mr. Kim: Sure, okay. (He rushed out of the room.)

Gem: Ahh (crying in pain).

Mrs. Kim: Sorry, baby, why would you do this to me? How come he can use the entire bottle four, are you not here with him? (crying)

Four: He asks me to get him a drink downstairs and sends Pammy to get him seafood to eat.

Mrs Kim: How could you do this, Gem?

Doctor Chen: Gem, try to spit them all out. (hitting him hard on his back)

Gem: ahhhh (he puked some of it out on the bed)

Doctor Chen: Gem, look at me. Can you see me? (Waving his hand at his face)

Gem: Uncle, you....you are here? (sadly smiling in pain)

Doctor Chen: Yes, I am taking you to the hospital; do not sleep. (Looking around) Where is Kim!?

Four: not here yet, uncle.

Doctor Chen: You come here, hold this suitcase, and I will carry him on my back.

Four: you do not need to do that, uncle; I am here to support him.

Doctor Chen: Oh, I forgot you were taller and stronger than me now. Okay, come here.

Four: Okay. (He moves to the bed and carries Gem on his back.)

Gem: I am not...going. (speaking weakly)

Four: You need to, Gem. (He walks to the door with gem on his back.)

(Pammy ran into four and the rest at the door. She is holding a bag of seafood in her hand.

Pammy: What happened? Where are you going with gem on your back!? (Looking at him in terror)

Four: just leave the door open and follow us to the hospital. (exiting the door)

Pam: Aunt (when she saw Mrs Kim crying outside the room, she called her). Why are you crying? Why is Gem going to the hospital? (Looking worried.)

Mrs Kim: he consumed the entire bottle of sleeping pills. (crying)

Pam: What!? The whole bottle? (looking at Mrs Kim with teary eyes)

Mrs. Kim: Yes, Pammy, your friend is trying to kill himself.

Pam: I do not think so, aunt; he has been complaining about being sleepless, I think that is why he used the entire bottle; he has stated that no matter what happens, he will keep it (the pregnancy) and will not give it up.

Mrs Kim: Is that so he will keep it?

Pam: Yes, that is what he said. Please do not cry anymore. Nothing will happen to him, and I believe he will be fine. (wiping off Mrs Kim's tears with her face towel)

Mrs. Kim: Thank you, Pam.

Pam: Let us join them, aunt.

(They all arrived where Mr. Kim parked his car and went to the hospital.)

Arriving at the hospital.

(Doctor Chen received a message on his phone from Mr Kim saying, "Gem is pregnant. I do not know how, but treat him like a pregnant woman. Nothing should harm him or his baby. I believe he wants to keep it.)

Doctor Chen: What!? (looking at Mr. Kim coming out of the parking spots opposite the hospital)

Nurse Tun: Good evening, sir. (two nurses come out of the hospital)

Doctor Chen: (facing them) Evening, take him to Ward 207. Make him sit and rub his back until I come in.

Nurse Lin: Yes, Sir. (The two nurses placed him in a wheelchair and transported him to the ward.)

Mrs Kim: I need to talk to you about Gem before you start any treatment on him. (In a worried tone)

Doctor Chen: Do not worry, let me go treat him first. (He walks into the hospital.)

Mrs Kim: but....

Mr. Kim: Do not worry, he knows.

(Mr and Mrs Juan exit sun room. Mrs. Juan sees Mr. and Mrs. Juan standing beside Sun's room.

Mrs. Juan: Shania, what are you doing here? (Walking to her)

Mrs Kim: Sanny, you are here?

Mr. Juan: Yes, we are. Evening (he greeted)

Mr. Kim: Evening (he greeted back. The two women also greet and hug.

Four: hello aunt, uncle.

Pammy: Good evening.

Mrs. Juan: Good evening four, and...

Pammy: Pammy, aunt.

Mr. Kim: We are here because of Gem.

Mrs. Juan: Gem? How!?

Mr. Kim: We admitted him.

Mr Juan: what happened to him? (In a concerned tone)

Mrs. Kim: He had a sleepless night. As a result, he took an entire bottle of sleeping pills.

Mrs. Juan: What!? An entire bottle? Why!?

(Chen comes out of Gem's room with a tiny piece of paper in his hand.)

Chen: oh, you guys already meet.

Mrs. Kim: How is my son? Is he OK now? (rushed to him).

Doctor Chen: Yes, he threw up all the pills. He is fine now.

Mrs. Kim: Thank goodness. (smiling slightly)

Doctor Chen: But...

Mr Kim: But what?

Doctor Chen: He needs to stay here for more treatment and to be checked up on.

Mrs Kim: Oh, that is a relief.

Doctor Chen: Four, Pammy, go get this drug for me. (hands them a small sheet of paper)

Four: Okay, uncle (Pammy and Four left the premises to get the drug).

Doctor Chen: (facing Mr and Mrs. Juan). Are you still out here?

Mr. Juan: Yes, we came to sit outside for some fresh air.

Doctor Chen: Okay, I will come back to check on Sun. I need to talk to these two over here. (pointing at Mr and Mrs Kim)

Mr. Juan: Sure.

Mrs. Kim: let go, Kim (looking at his husband busy on his phone)

Mrs. Kim: sure. Let go. (He stops what he is doing and follows his wife and Chen to his office)

Doctor Chen: Okay, let's go to my office. (He leads them to his office)

Mrs. Kim: (Reaching the office) Is it safe to talk here?

Dr. Chen: Yes, it is safe. Please come in and sit. (He opens the door and enters.)

Mr. Kim: If you said so. (They enter and sit facing him.)

Doctor Chen: So, what do you want to talk about, and what is the meaning of the message you sent me?

Mr. Kim: Chen, the message is true: Gem is pregnant.

Doctor Chen: How? (In shock)
