Hidden pains

Episode Thirteen

(They both explain everything, including how Gem explained it to them and how they are not with him.)

Doctor Chen: What will you both do with him now?

Mrs. Kim: I was hoping to send him back to the United States to deliver the baby, then return later for his studies, and the child would always be mine.

Doctor Chen: That is a good idea.

Mr Kim: No, he is not going anywhere; he will be in my safe house until he gives birth. So, Chen can treat and monitor him until then.

Doctor Chen: That is also a good idea; at least his people will be around him. wait, why don't you ask me if I am available or not?

Mr. Kim: Of course, you will support him.

Doctor Chen: It is true. (checking the time on his watch) Let go; it is time to check on Sun.

Mr. Kim: Okay. (They left the office)

(In the corridor where gems and sun are.)

(Gem is having a nightmare in his ward, crying out in his sleep.)

Mrs. Juan: Someone is crying. (listening intently)

Mr. Juan: It might be from the other patient room.

Mrs. Juan: There are no other patients here except Sun and... Gem. (She rushed into his room to see him.)

Mr. Juan: Wait up (Notice Gem having nightmares).

Mrs. Juan: (rushing to his side) Gem, wake up.

Mr. Juan: He is having difficulty breathing.

Mrs Juan: and sweating profusely.

Gem: (crying) Please, please.

Mrs. Juan: Wake up. We need to get Chen here; he can not breathe!

(Four and Pammy arrived and saw Gems' room open; they rushed in and saw Mr and Mrs Juan trying to wake him up from his nightmare.)

Mr. Juan: You are here; go get Chen here. Gem is having trouble breathing.

Gem: No, no, (cries heavily).

Four: Yes, Uncle. (As he rushed out of the room, he bumped into Mr. Kim)

Mr Kim: Why are you in a rush?

Four: to get uncle, gem is having nightmares again and difficult breathing (looking at the doctor chen beside Mrs. Kim)

Doctor Chen: let go (they rushed in).

Mrs. Kim: Sorry, baby (crying).

Mr. Kim: When will this stop causing him pain? (With a worried tone)

Gem: It hurts....stop... please no, ahh, no...

Dr. Chen: Gem, wake up. (sit him up on the bed, and tap him)

Mrs. Kim: Wake up, Gem. (in a worried tone).

(gem, stop crying abruptly and fainted)

Mr Juan: he stops.

Doctor Chen: He passed out from the stress. (Checking on him)

Mrs Kim: Will he be okay?

Doctor Chen: Yes, he will; you should give me some space to check on him.

Mr. Kim: Sure, let's go out and wait for him.

(They leave Doctor Chen and Gem alone in the room.)

Mrs. Juan: What happened to Gem that caused him this trauma? (looking at Mrs Kim worriedly)

(Mrs Kim did not respond to her; instead, she tried to stop herself from crying, but tears continued to fall from her teary eyes as she looked at her husband standing beside her.)

Mr. Juan: Ummm, darling, let us go check on our son. (Holding her shoulders).

Mrs. Juan: Okay, we should go check on him. We will come back to check on Gem.

Mrs. Kim: Alright, please take good care of Sun.

Mrs. Juan: Yes, I will.

(They entered Sun's room.)

Mrs. Juan: Sun? (She notices his eyes open) Juan, our son, is awake. (smiling happily)

Mr. Juan: (moving closer to them) Sun, can you see me and your mom? (smiling) Let me go get Chen. (He left the room and saw Chen talking with Kim's family.)

Doctor Chen: You do not have to worry; he is awake.

Mr Juan: Chen, I thought you said Gem is awake?

Doctor Chen: Yes, he is.

Mr. Juan: I came out to call you because sun is also awake. (smiling)

Doctor Chen: Oh?

Mr. Juan: Yes, he is finally awake from his coma. It only takes a day for him. (Checking time on his watch)

Mrs. Kim: Coma!?

Mr Juan: Yes, Coma.

Mr. Kim: that is bad. Thank God he is out of it. (These kids are something!)

Doctor Chen: Let me go check on him then.

Mrs. Kim: Sure. Please take care of him. Can we go in now? (pointing to Gem's room).

Doctor Chen: Sure, you can.

Mrs. Kim: Juan, we will come visit Sun later; please take care of him.

Mr. Juan: You have already said that; I will do it, and you can go in now.

(Doctor Chen and Mr Juan entered Sun's room, while Kim's family, Pammy, and four went into Gem's room.)

Doctor Chen: (moves to the bed) Sun, look at me, how many fingers are these (shows two fingers)

Sun: Two fingers.

Doctor Chen: What am I doing now? (Moving his finger)

Sun: moving it left and right.

Doctor Chen: Okay, he is fine now.

Mr Juan: Are you sure, Chen?

Doctor Chen: Are you a doctor?

Mr. Juan: Damn you!

Mrs. Juan: Do not start yet; just let him treat my son first, and then you can continue your jokes.

Doctor Chen: (laughing) Sun, how are you feeling? Do you feel pain anywhere in your body?

Sun: Yes, I have a headache, as well as leg and neck pain.

Doctor Chen: Yes, it is normal that you are in pain in your leg because you were in critical condition when you were brought here last night, and we had to bandage your neck and leg to keep it from worsening.

Sun: Okay. When will I be discharged from here?

Doctor Chen: Let me say a week or two because I still need to run a test on you to see if there is nothing to worry about.

Mrs. Juan: I hope there will be no problems. (being worried)

Doctor Chen: I hope so too.

Mrs. Juan: Chen, how is Gem? Is he okay now?

Doctor Chen: He is fine now.

Mr Juan: he looks painful and scared in his dream.

Doctor Chen: he is experiencing trauma. Only he knows what has happened to him. I guess I should leave you guys; I need to rest.

Mr. Juan: Okay, thanks for your help.

Mrs Juan: Thank you so much, Chen.

Doctor Chen: No problem (he leaves)

An hour later.

(Mr. and Mrs. Kim knock on Sun's room to check on him.)

Mrs. Kim: Sanny, how is Sun? (Looking at him on the bed, already sleeping)

Mrs Juan: Thank you, he is doing better now. What about Gem, is he okay?

Mrs. Kim: He is fine. His friends are with him.

Mrs. Juan: Oh, that is good.

(Sun phone rings)

Night: (picks) Hello, Sun! Where did you put your phone? I've been calling you but you're not picking.

Mrs. Juan: Hello, this is not Sun. I am his mother.

Night: Good evening, aunt I am sorry, I thought it sun.

Mrs. Juan: Sun is here with me in the hospital...

Night: What!? I hope he did not act stupid!

Mrs. Juan: What do you mean? He got in an accident last night.

Night: An accident? How? (Shocked) Please send me the location I will be coming over.

Mrs. Juan: It is already late.

Night: No Aunt I will be there; please send me the location, Aunt.

Mrs. Juan: Okay. (Check the phone) He hung up on me. This children.

Mrs. Kim: Sun's friend?

Mrs. Juan: Yes, he said he would come to check on him.

Mrs. Kim: Right now? (checks the time on the wall) Visitors' hours are over; it is eleven-fifty now, nearly midnight.

Mrs. Juan: He insists on coming. Do not worry; I will let him in.

Mrs. Kim: Okay then. Well, I'm going to check on Gem.

Mrs. Juan: Okay, goodnight.

Mrs Kim: Kim, we should leave now. (Mr Kim is busy chatting with Mr Juan on the side of the room.)

Mr Kim: All right. I guess I will see you tomorrow. (Pat Mr. Juan's shoulder)

Mr. Juan: Okay, see you.

Mr. Kim: Goodnight, sanny.

Mrs. Juan: Goodnight.

Mr. Kim: let go (they leave the room and return to their son's ward).

(Minutes later, night arrived at the hospital, and Mrs Juan let him in.)

Night: Aunt, is he getting better (looking at his broken leg and harm)

Mrs. Juan: He will be.

Mr. Juan: My wife told me what you said on the phone, that you hope he did not do anything stupid. What do you mean by that?

Night: Hmm, nothing. (behaving suspiciously).

Mr Juan: Did something happen to him? (looks into his eyes)

Mrs Juan: And you said...

Night: (take a step back) As a friend and brother, I was just concerned that nothing should happen to him.

Mr Juan: Are you sure?

Night: I am sure.

Mr. Juan: Okay, if you said it was nothing, I believe you.

Night: Thank you, Sir.

Mr Juan: For what?

Night: for....allowing me in, sir.

Mr. Juan: Not a problem.

(A few minutes later, he left)

Mrs. Juan: He knew what happened to him.

Mr. Juan: Yes, I knew. I am hoping he will not say anything to anyone.

Mrs. Juan: We should trust him.

Mr. Juan: Yes, if our son can trust him to tell him such a big secret, I believe he is trustworthy.

Mrs Juan Yes, I believe so.
