Vita's POV
The sun shone through the window on my face and woke me from my dream.
I sat up on the velvet blanket bed.
This is Phil Wells' castle. I have lived here for almost 11 years.
Ever since Phil rescued me, he's brought me here. Now, I rarely think of that painful memory.
To tell the truth, I don't resent my parents. If I am to kill my former pack, as predicted, my life alone is not as important as the lives of all of them. I didn't want to die, they didn't want to die, so they didn't risk it.
Besides, if they hadn't abandoned me, I wouldn't have met Phil when he was out hunting. At the very least, I am extremely content with my present life.
But anyway, this nightmare still makes me very depressed. I tried to get out of bed, but suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my right shoulder.
Oh yes, yesterday I went hunting in the forest and was bitten on the shoulder by a poisonous snake.
Because I don't have a Wolf, I'm much weaker than most werewolves. For some powerful werewolves, the wound may heal in a day, without even taking an antidote. But for me, it took months.
I'm not afraid of the pain, but I'm afraid Phil knows I'm hurt. Phil is a sweet cookie, but whenever I get hurt, he flies into a rage. He told me many times that he didn't need me to be strong, he just needed me to be healthy. Therefore, he even forbade me to take part in dangerous training or hunting.
Some time ago, Phil was invited to another Pack. But they say he's coming back tomorrow. I need to cover up this wound before he gets back.
The only person who can help me is Bruno. He's the Beta of Phil. When Phil is busy, he asks Bruno to take care of me. Over time, Bruno and I also became friends.
So, swallowing my pain, I put on my clothes and was about to stand up when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"Vita, are you awake?"
It's Phil!
My voice trembled nervously. "Alpha, aren't you coming back tomorrow?"
Phil opened the door and walked in. He was also dressed in the splendid dress he wore when he went out, and at his waist hung a long sword inlaid with rubies. When he came near me, I could hardly breathe.
He walked over to me and stared at my injured shoulder. "Are you hurt?"
"I didn't..." I tried to hide it from him, so I quietly played with my long curly hair and tried to cover my shoulders with it.
Phil didn't say anything. He just stared straight at me. But I knew he was angry.
I know Phil's worried about me. Maybe because I'm the one he got back, he sees me as his responsibility. Whatever his reason, his attitude towards me is very special, even making me the most jealous of all the women who want to be his Luna.
I knew I would never be able to lie to him, so I bowed my head in shame and said, "I'm sorry, Alpha."
"How did you get hurt?" "He asked.
"I went to the f*******n Forest..."
"I remember telling you I wouldn't allow you to go into the Forest."
I trembled almost all over, afraid to speak.
"Vita, tell me, why did you do this so knowingly?"
My face turned uncontrollably red. "I was trying to find Bloodberry..."
I took a box out of my bag, opened it and gave it to Phil. The box contained a bright red fruit. It was the size of a fist. The skin of the fruit is covered with raised veins. Since the fruit was picked less than a day ago, it was even slightly stretching and contracting, like a slightly beating heart.
Phil looked at the Bloodberry with a strange expression on his face. "Is that what you went into the forest for? What if you meet a beast? You can't transform into a Wolf, so you can't escape the beast at all."
I clutched my clothes tightly, not daring to look up. "I've heard that Bloodberry helps werewolves gain strength... I wanted to give it to you for your birthday..."
"If I need anything, I'll find it myself. I don't need you to take risks for me."
Phil scolded me. But his concern for me was reflected in his words, and it made my face turn red.
I knew that with Phil's strength and stature, he could easily get anything he wanted. But I still want to give him something special. Phil provides me with my shelter, my food and even my clothes. I don't want to spend his money on gifts, so I have to go to the f*******n Forest to find some special treasures to give him.
Phil gently touched the bright red Bloodberry and put it in the box. "I'll apply the ointment for you," he told me.
It was a pleasant surprise to me. Although Phil has always been kind to me, he rarely shows intimate behavior towards me. It seems that he always deliberately keeps a proper social distance from me. Blushing, I gently took off my coat, revealing my injured shoulder.
Just as Phil's fingers were about to touch my shoulder, there was another knock on my door.
