Vita's POV
I thought what awaited me was eternal darkness.
As Phil said, no one can live without a heart.
But I did not die.
It was as if my soul followed my heart into Serena's body. I can see what she sees, I can hear what she hears, but I can't control her body. I had to be there with Serena like a ghost.
I saw Serena sleeping in the bed. It was a strange feeling, as if I was watching myself sleeping in bed.
Phil was sitting in a chair by the bed. The sword with which I had been killed was laid aside by him.
The woman in the bed moved and groaned softly.
Phil jumped to his feet. "Serena, are you okay?"
Serena frowned with her eyes closed. "Phil, is that you? I'm hurting, I'm hurting all over..."
Phil reaches out and takes Serena's hand. "It's okay. This is because you sleep too long. You'll be all right after a few days of rest."
Serena opens her eyes, looks at Phil, and smiles. "Phil, I didn't think I'd wake up. I thought I'd never see you again. I feel like I'm in a dream..."
"Dont’t think of it as a bad dream."
Serena laughs. "I miss my mom and dad, and my friends... Oh, and Robert, are they all right?"
Phil looked down, avoiding her eyes. "They're fine. They miss you, too."
I don't want to hear it, I don't want to see it. I think of Robert! How can they say they miss Robert?! He was already dead, dying to protect me!
So why do I wake up? Is this a miracle bestowed on me by the Moon Goddess? But what has this miracle brought me but pain and suffering?
If I have eyes, I could close them; If I had ears, I could cover them; If I had legs, I could walk away.
But I don't have anything. I just watch them and listen to them.
Just then there was a knock at the door.
Beta Bruno and Phil's mother Donna came in. They looked overjoyed, each holding a gift box. "Serena, I'm so glad you finally woke up."
So Bruno knows about Phil's plan, too? I thought he and I were kind of friends.
Bruno walked over to Serena and gave her the gift box. "Serena, it was your birthday yesterday. But I couldn't throw you a birthday party yesterday. But happy birthday to you anyway!"
Serena sheds tears of joy, "So you remembered my birthday..."
Phil stroked Serena's hair. "Even if we forgot everything, we wouldn't forget your birthday. After all, you're the most noble and lovely princess in the pack."
Then I remembered that yesterday was also my birthday.
In the 11 years I've been at the Sliver Pack, no one has thrown me a birthday party. Even Phil will disappear on this day. Turns out, they all went to the cave to celebrate Serena's birthday.
Even if Serena was sleeping in her crystal coffin, they will remember her birthday and be there for her on her birthday.
On that same birthday, Serena got a second chance to restart her life, and I lost it.
Bruno looked at Phil and Serena with a smile. "Alpha, now that Serena is awake, when she is better, we can find a suitable time for your wedding ceremony. So we can tell everyone that Serena is going to be Luna of the Silver Pack."
Phil nodded. "You'll be in charge of arranging things." Then, he sighed, "Remember to have a good reason for Vita's disappearance, too. To be honest, I didn't think it would work out so well."
Bruno smirked. "It's impossible for this plan to fail. After all, even Vita has worked hard for this plan."
Donna wondered. "What do you mean?"
"Do you remember what the Witch said? In addition to the right heart, it will take a rare fruit, Bloodberry, to wake Serena up. So I accidentally told Vita during a conversation that Bloodberry could help Phil improve his strength. Sure enough, she did everything she could to bring Bloodberry back to us."
Donna shaked her head. "Vita's a nice girl, too. When I saw her right after Phil brought her back, it was like seeing my little Serena."
Bruno gave a half-hearted sigh, "I also know she is innocent. But when I think of Serena still asleep, I can't wait. And if Alpha hadn't saved her, she would have died when she was 7. At least she got another 10 years."
I watched them talk easily and naturally. Of the three of them, one is the person I most respect and admire; One was what I thought was a friend; And Mrs. Donna, who was like a mother to me when I was first brought back.
Turns out, all they cared about was my heart.
I felt a sharp pain in my heart, as if it had broken into pieces. The original even if lost heart, also will be broken.
Serena was weak, after all, and soon fell asleep again.
The three people were standing by her bed, and I thought they were about to leave, when Donna suddenly mentioned a name.
'What about Robert?
