Lucien’s POV
I slammed the door behind me, my fists clenched tight. The news from Sera’s hotel room had set a fire inside me—a fury I hadn’t felt in years. My anger make the room chiller, the air thickening with tension. My beta, Darius, watched me cautiously, trying to keep his voice steady.
“Lucien, calm down. Take a breath.”
I ignored him, every instinct screaming at me to act. I was done waiting. Done holding back.
“Don’t tell me you’re going there,” Darius called after me as I stormed out.
But I didn’t listen. I had to see for myself. I had to make sure she was safe.

Seraphina’s POV
The knock came sharp and unexpected, echoing through the quiet of the room. My heart jumped—who could it be at this hour? I hadn’t called room service, and the feeling crawling beneath my skin told me this visitor wasn’t ordinary.
When I opened the door, my breath caught.
Lucien stood there—calm, but fierce.
“I was in the next room,” he said quickly, voice low. “I heard the noise and came to check.”
“It’s been over an hour since you heard the noise,” I said suspiciously. I didn’t hide the fact that I was wary of him. What if he was one of them?
Lucien raised a brow. “You think I’m one of them, don’t you?”
I shrugged. “Well, you haven’t given me a reason not to think so.”
Lucien glanced around the room. “Can I at least come in? We need to talk.”
Nyra didn’t protest. I think she felt comfortable with this man, but I wasn’t. I couldn’t afford to trust another Alpha.
I stepped back reluctantly, watching him like a hawk as he entered the room. Nyra remained silent, her eyes tracking him with cautious curiosity, but her posture had relaxed—a little too much for my liking.
Lucien didn’t sit. He stood just past the doorway, his arms crossed as his sharp gaze scanned the room like he was searching for something invisible.
“I didn’t come here to fight,” he began, his tone gentler now. “But I need answers. And only you have them.”
I folded my arms, mirroring his stance. “Then talk. Because if this is some elaborate trap, I swear I’ll burn it all down.”
That made the corner of his mouth twitch. “I’m surprised you’re this tough. I thought you were the obedient and submissive Alpha’s girlfriend.”
I felt a sting of embarrassment. He wasn’t wrong. I had acted weak in front of everyone while I was dating Karl, but now that had ended. I wasn’t going to pretend anymore.
But then I remembered—I didn’t know anything about the man standing in front of me. Who was he, and what did he want from me?
I knew his name: Lucien Drax. The Alpha no one dared to mess with. What I didn’t understand was why he wanted anything to do with me. I’d seen him watching me that awful night when Kael embarrassed me. Something inside me had shifted when our eyes met.
“You can leave. As you can see, I’m not hurt,” I said coldly. “It’s not as if it’s your business if I am.”
I added the last part under my breath, but loud enough for him to hear.
Lucien met my eyes. “You’re right. It’s not my business if you’re hurt or not. The noise disturbed my peace. But like I said I have questions and you have the answers.”
Of course he didn’t care. He didn’t even know me.
No one in this town did.
But that wasn’t important right now, what questions did he have that only me could answer.
