The door opened to reveal nothing but complete darkness. I laughed nervously, looking at her calm expression as I made up my mind. ‘I’m definitely not going in there!’
She stepped in first, her entire form swallowed by the darkness. I stood frozen on my feet watching in shock, happy that maybe she had decided to move on without me.
“Come in child!”
“s**t!” I cursed, wishing I could exchange positions with Greta now. Maybe this was my karma for mocking her. Putting on a brave face, knowing I could not chicken out now, I stepped in. One leg first, until it was swallowed by the darkness. Feeling nothing in there but space, I moved my complete body in.
The first thing my eyes took in was light and definitely not the cloud of dark smoke I had been expecting. How was that even possible?
