CHAPTER SEVEN

"I think I'm pregnant Wendy" I say worriedly
"Let me get the pregnancy test so we could confirm" she leaves the toilet and later comes in with the test in her hand. I suddenly get very nervous.
"I..ca...I can't do this" I panic.
Could I really be pregnant?
"You have to do this so we'll know the way forward, Hazel come on"
I reluctantly take the test from her and she excuses me while I drop my urine on it. I wait for five minutes as instructed and boom!, two lines f*****g appear and that means I'm pregnant. I suddenly feel more
dizzy but I manage to drag myself to the to my bedroom and lie on my bed.
"What does it say?" She asks concerned
" Wendy I'm pregnant" I say sadly . How can I be pregnant?
"Hey, it's gonna be fine" she assures me but I know it's not gonna be fine. I'm scared.
"No it's not. I'm going to have a baby, do you have any idea how scary that sounds?"
"But Hazel you've always been the overprotective type, you're always very careful. What happened this time around?"
"Klaus and I had unprotected s*x and it never occurred to me that this could happen. This is all messed up!"
"No it's not. Klaus really loves you, I'm sure it'll be good news to him"
"And just who says I'm gonna tell Klaus?"
"You won't tell him that you're pregnant for him?"
"Not a chance"
"Why not?" she asks confused.
"Because I'm scared, what if he rejects me just like Danny did when I got r***d"
"Klaus and Danny are two different people, he has the right to know"
"He's going to use this as an opportunity to bug me again, I don't want to go out with him. I'm not telling him for the sake of my peace."
"You're being selfish now Hazel, this baby needs his or her father, you can't deny him that privilege because of your crisis with men"
"I wanna be left alone" I say out of nowhere.
I don't like where she's driving to.
"I'm next door, if you need anything just let me know okay"
"Yeah"
"I love you"
She kisses my forehead and leaves my bed room. I lay on the bed and heave out a heavy sigh.
"This is not happening"
I got r***d by three guys when I was nineteen and after that my boyfriend, Danny broke up with me because I was defiled and when I remember how my father habitually assaulted my mum and I till the point where he had to kill her, I just can't bring myself to be at ease with men.
Apart from s*x, I wanted nothing to do with them but now look at what just happened. I'm pregnant for my boss who happens to be head over heels for me. This is all pretty messed up.
I end up sleeping in Wendy's room cuddled in her arms because I couldn't fall asleep in my bedroom. She keeps assuring me that everything is going to be fine.
I doubt.

The next morning at work, I'm preparing Klaus' files for his appointment at noon when he walks in looking all handsome and responsible as usual.
"Good morning Mr Arthur"
"Good morning Hazel, how was your night?" He asks cheerfully as always. One of the reasons why I like working for him. He's always cheerful, only around me though. You need to see him with other employees, his expression is always priceless.
"It was peaceful"
"Nice"
He stops by his door and turns to look at me.
"What?" I ask curious.
"Has anyone else told you that you're glowing?"
He asks and my heart falls in my abdomen. That's the same thing Wendy told me this morning and she said it's as a result of the pregnancy.
God please don't let this guy notice.
"Ex...excuse me?"
"You're exceptionally beautiful this morning"
With that, he goes into his office leaving me dumbfounded. I quickly rush to the restroom to look at myself in the mirror and it turns out that both Wendy and Klaus are right, I'm indeed glowing and I've added a few pounds.
"I'm gaining weight!"
Kill. Me . Now!
Klaus I hate you for doing this to me.
One week later
I've still not told Klaus about my pregnancy and I have no plans of telling him. Yes I know what you're thinking, I'm wasting my time because pregnancy doesn't hide. Even if he finds out , I will never tell him that it's his because if I do, then I've officially signed my death warrant because Klaus is going to nag me to death.
Klaus is out on a business appointment and I'm in his office arranging a few files together. The door opens and Craig walks in and when he sees me, he smiles heartily just like his brother.
"Hello Emerald"
"Hi Craig, long time no see"
"Long time no see"
"Where have been?"
"Traveling around, making business deals"
"I thought that was the CEO'S job"
"Yes it is, but I'm the adventurous type so Klaus sends me to take care deals out of the country while he takes care of those within"
"Wow" I say nodding. Their sibbling bond is something else. I just love the way they understand each other.
"By the way you look gorgeous, you're ... what's the word ?....umm glowing!. Yes. You're glowing, what's your secret?"
Pregnancy.
I don't say that out loud though.
"Heritage Bank pays me a very fat..."
I hold my mouth and rush to the toilet where I puke violently. I thought the puking sessions were over.
"You good?"
He asks concerned as he stoops by my side and rubs my back gently.
"Yeah, I'm sure it's just something I ate"
I lie.
"You sure you don't want to see a doctor?"
Hello no!
My subconscious mind screams, I don't wanna get caught.
"No I'm fine"
I rinse my mouth and we both leave the toilet. I'm suddenly very busy and as I'm about to fall, Craig supports me and holds me still.
"Right!, We're going to see a doctor right away"
"No, no, please I'll just go home"
"Hazel you're burning up!"
"I'm just tired ok, I just need to rest that's all"
"Hazel..." He starts to speak but I cut him off.
"I'll just go home and rest" I insist stubbornly as I carry my handbag.
"I'll drive you home then"
"No, it's fine I can manage"
"Don't be stubborn"
He takes my handbag and leads me out of the office with a protective arm wrapped around my waist.
Klaus' POV
I'm beyond shocked to enter my living room and meet Craig watching TV. He never visits me. I wonder what brings him here.
"Hey bro" I greet as I sit beside him.
"Hey man, sup"
"All good, and you?"
"Same"
" What brings you here?"
"I miss coming here, so I decided to come and spend the night"
"That sounds refreshing. So how was your trip?"
"Safe and successful. We've got the Starlight Enterprise cash flowing in our bank accounts bro" he says excitedly.
"Way to go!"
"Yo!. I was with Emerald earlier today"
"At the office?"
"Yeah and..."
" And what?" I ask eagerly.
"She was acting very pregnant"
