Chapter 9I get to Meow Mix early—I decide not to go home and change first, so that I don’t have to explain where I went to anyone. I knew my boss Merri wasn’t going to be in today, so I wore black jeans and a black T-shirt. I want to fade into the background as much as I can when it comes to the Riot Dykes. I’m not interested in being their next recruit, and I’m kicking myself for having let Layla know that I’ll attend. I’m just here for my own morbid curiosity.
I arrive at 6:10 and sit at the empty bar to order a cranberry juice. I can’t be bothered with alcohol.
