I tried to scream, but my voice was frozen in my throat. The voice laughed, a cold, mirthless sound that sent shivers down my spine.
"You shouldn't have come here," it said. "Now you'll never leave."
Suddenly, the lights flickered back to life, and I saw that I was surrounded by strange symbols etched into the walls. They seemed to pulse with a malevolent energy, and I knew I had to get out of there.
I ran from the library, back to the inn, but Mrs. Jenkins was nowhere to be found. I tried to call for help, but my phone had no signal. I was trapped.
As night fell, the whispers grew louder, the shadows seemed to move of their own accord, and I knew I was in grave danger.
I barricaded myself in my room, but the door creaked open by itself, and a dark figure loomed in the doorway.
"You can't escape," it hissed. "Shadow Creek has you now."
And then, everything went black.
When I woke up, I was in a dark, damp cellar. I was chained to the wall, and Mrs. Jenkins was standing over me, a cruel smile on her face.
"Welcome to your new home," she said. "You'll be staying here...forever.".
