Chapter 3

1046 Words
The sound of women’s laughter mingling with that of a man filtering through the air, had the male in the dark underground prison, standing up with a harsh growl. “Calm down man. It’s that attitude of yours that got you into this mess in the first place! Our Alpha-Luna isn’t one to take your s**t!” “Mine!” “Dude, she’s not yours! Neither is this pack, so I have NO idea what you’re calling “mine”, but it better not be her, ‘cause she’ll eat you for breakfast if she hears that!” Watching the male in the room pacing up and down with growls still filtering through, Aiden shakes his head. At least the guy was intelligent enough not to test the bars. Coated in liquid silver they would probably render him unconscious in seconds in his weakened state. “Look if it’ll make you feel any better. The guy with her, he’s our beta, and her cousin too. So if you would just calm down, I’ll give you your food. Look, she’s sent you some nice prime ribs and stuff. The food here is good. She’s probably just gonna release you or something if you’d just calm down. She’s not some heartless woman, our Alpha-Luna, but she doesn’t take no s**t from nobody!” “Cousin?” “Ja, his name’s Jasz. He’s her cousin.  And the woman, you’re so hell bend on saying is yours, she’s Crystal. Good guy, but they’re not the type for inter-marriage.” The hostage seemed to calm down and once he took a seat again, Aiden walked forward while carefully watching the man. He was, after all, still a prisoner, and he had shown remarkable strength in the fight with Crystal. It was best to always treat carefully around such as him, especially him being a rogue. Watching the man laying into the food, he could only shake his head. What in the world would drive someone to become rogue and live like this?! And an Alpha too! He had to admit, he felt sorry for the guy.   Crystal was bent over a stack of papers, trying to decide which bills needed immediate payment and which ones could wait when her mind link opened once more. “Alpha-Luna, we need you in town! A fire has broken out at one of the hotels and we need every hand we can get!” “Thanks Trent, I’ll grab some of the guys and we are on our way!” Looking up, Crystal realized that it had turned dark while she had been working. Vanessa had sent one of the other female wolfs to bring her food, but the plate still stood untouched where the younger girl had left it. Well, too bad, no time for eating now. She could feel Blue awake inside her mind, padding and restless, wanting out, to find the man in the dungeons. At least the fire will have them all distracted for a while and by the time it’s all sorted, hopefully she will be too tired to think when she collapses into the bed. Mind linking she contacted the other pack members who always assists in fighting fires. Since taking over from her father, she had always made sure to have one of the pack in the fire department as well as police force and hospital so that they could be alerted to any potential threatening situations in time, to be able to lend assistance. And, it helped pay the bills for the large amount of mouths she had to feed. The jeep was parked at the pack house 5 minutes from her Alpha-house, so she had to wait for them to arrive, while mind linking and informing Jasz that she was on her way out and to ask him to have the food in her study cleared away. It was his night off, and anyway, with the rogue on their territory, she didn’t feel it safe to have both of them leaving. Someone had to stay to ensure Vanessa was safe. As the jeep pulled up, Crystal quickly jumped on even before it came to a complete stand still, settling between two of her old friends, Vince and his old high school sweetheart, and Trent’s sister, called Trinity. They had grown up together in the pack but the two had drifted apart over the years since they didn’t end up being mates. Crystal was sorry to see the relationship end. With wolves being so scares, finding true mates was difficult and their pack could have used the extra growth if they had chosen to stay together, but both had wanted to wait for their mates. Crystal could only hope that it would happen sometime. In the meantime she always tried to help ease the tension between the two whenever she could. “So what’s up guys?” “Not much! Where are we off to this time?” “Sun lake hotel.  Apparently it caught on fire and they need assistance fighting it. Trent called it in. We’ll meet up there and he’ll ensure we all get suited up before entering the building. Vince, you, and I will be responsible for search and rescue. Trinity you make sure that anyone with wound’s gets treatment and assist the ambulance crews...” Her natural leadership abilities taking over the other’s in the jeep nodding at her orders, accepting them without complaint, knowing that she would make use of everyone as she feels it would suite them best. When they pulled up to the building with squealing tires , Crystal’s heart sank. The fire had started to spread and some of the houses nearby was catching on as well. They had to act fast if they wanted to assist in rescuing everyone and stop the fires from moving further. It was going to be one hell of a night!
