Chapter 7

Edeline I drew in a shaky breath and glanced down at my clothes. Soft shorts and a tank top that clung tightly to my curves. I couldn’t believe I was actually doing this. A part of me still expected someone to burst through the door and stop this entire nightmare before it went any further. But no one came. So I forced myself to shut everything off. Don’t think. Just do it. If I thought too hard about what was happening, I’d panic. I’d break apart right here in front of him, and I refused to give Auric the satisfaction of seeing that. It would all be over soon anyway. At least, I hoped so. My fingers shook slightly as I grabbed the hem of my top and slowly pulled it over my head, exposing the red lace bra underneath. Cool air immediately brushed against my skin, making me fight the urge to cover myself back up. Auric’s expression changed instantly. His eyes darkened with unmistakable hunger, his gaze fixed on me so intensely it made heat crawl uncomfortably up my neck. I despised it. I despised the way he looked at me like he’d already won. I slipped off my shorts next, dragging them slowly down my hips until they pooled around my feet, leaving me standing there in matching red lace. Completely exposed. Completely vulnerable. Auric looked entirely too pleased about it. The satisfaction glinting in his eyes made my stomach churn all over again. Here goes nothing. Swallowing hard, I reached for the waistband of my panties, desperate to just get this over with before I completely lost my nerve. “Stop.” My hands froze instantly. Auric slowly rose from the bed and started toward me. Every step he took made my pulse pound harder against my ribs. I wanted to close my eyes. I didn’t want to see any of it—didn’t want to witness the cold desire burning in his gaze—but unfortunately, I could still feel it. Every nerve ending in my body was awake, betraying me before I could even think to shut them off. He brought his hand up to cup my cheek. His palm large and searingly warm against my skin. His thumb stroked lightly—once, then twice—a slow, agonizing mockery of tenderness that made my stomach clench in a knot of conflict. Then he began to trace downward, his touch feather-light as he followed the bridge of my nose and the delicate arch of my brows, as if memorizing every contour he intended to claim. I held still. Frozen. Furious at how my own skin seemed to lean into his touch. Then he lifted his other hand. His thumb pressed firmly against my lower lip, dragging slowly across its fullness, pulling the flesh down to expose the wetness inside. My breath caught in my throat, a sharp, jagged hitch. A tingle spiraled low in my belly, curling like thick smoke, heating me from the inside out. I held my breath, desperate to keep my composure, refusing to let him hear how utterly disoriented I was becoming. Without warning, he stepped forward. The sudden movement closed the gap until our bodies were mere inches apart—close enough that his radiating body heat bled through the thin air between us. His free hand wrapped around my waist, fingers digging deep into the soft curve of my hip, pulling me in until there was no space left. He bent over and went straight for my neck. That’s when I caught it—the intoxicating scent of his shampoo. It smelt ridiculously good. Expensive, layered with cedar wood and black amber, something cold and clean beneath it. I let the scent consume me, letting it drag me somewhere far away from this room, from the cruelty of his hands, and from the ache already settling between my thighs. His lips pressed down on my neck—soft, grazing kisses at first, sending violent shockwaves rippling through my body, sharp and electric. Then his mouth trailed lower, grazing my collarbone, descending toward the swell of my chest. His breath came hot and ragged against my skin as his kisses turned into bites—hard, possessive, teeth scraping then sinking, leaving hickeys in their wake. I felt something warm bloom between my legs. A slick, aching pull that I couldn’t deny, a pulsing need that demanded to be filled. My breathing roughened, turning into shallow, needy pants despite every command I gave my heart to stay steady. I tried to stand firm… tried to deny everything my body was telling me. There was no way in hell he was actually getting to me. But as his rough bites traveled lower, diving into my cleavage where the soft spill of my breasts rose and fell inside the lace with every strained breath, my n*****s tightened into hard peaks. He bit down hard on my tender flesh, sucking it into his mouth with a thirst that made my toes curl. I had to bite down a gasp, my head tilting as a jolt of pure pleasure shot straight to my core. My thighs pressed together instinctively, trying to stifle the throb that pulsed there—wet, insistent, and screaming for more. When he finally pulled away, he had left numerous marks across my chest; deep red and pulsing. They stung, and I winced slightly, the pain sharp and intimate against my heated skin. Auric didn’t even give me the chance to recover. Before I could fully process the dizzying rush or feel the sting of the marks he’d left on my skin, his hand clamped around mine. His grip was firm, possessive, as he pivoted me around and marched me toward the massive, floor-to-ceiling mirror that dominated one wall of his room. I gasped as I saw myself. I looked ruined. My skin was flushed a deep, feverish pink, my chest mottled with the violent red blossoms of his bites. I was shaking, standing there in nothing but red lace, looking small and fragile against the backdrop of his opulent room. And then there was Auric. He stepped up behind me, his towering frame casting a shadow that swallowed me whole. In the reflection, his eyes weren’t just hungry—they were predatory. He looked like a wolf who had finally cornered its prey, and the sheer intensity of his gaze made my thighs tremble. “Hands on the glass,” he commanded, his voice a low, vibrating rumble that echoed in my spine. “Now.” I obeyed, my palms pressing against the cool, smooth surface of the mirror. The contrast of the cold glass against my overheated skin made me shiver. “Watch,” he whispered, leaning in until his lips were grazing the shell of my ear. “Don’t you dare take your eyes off us, Edeline. I want you to see exactly how your body reacts to me.” I tried to hold onto my hatred, tried to remember why I despised him, but then I felt it. His hand slid down, bypassing my waist and diving straight into the waistband of my red lace panties. I let out a sharp, broken whimper that echoed in the quiet room. His fingers felt hot as he found the slick folds of my center and rubbed, I nearly collapsed. He didn’t go inside; instead, he began to tease me, his fingertips gliding over my c**t with a precision that felt like a physical assault on my senses. “Stop…” I breathed, but it sounded more like a plea for more.
