Kathy and I had been divorced for several months. Then one morning, just after I got off the air, I received a phone call at the station. An executive from WPIL, Philadelphia, had been passing through Harrisburg and he caught my show. He asked me if I would be interested in doing the morning drive time slot on his radio station. He said the station’s ratings were down. He needed someone, like me, to give them a shot in the arm. He inquired as to what I was currently making in salary and benefits. When I informed him, he said he would double it if I would accept his offer. I told him to put the offer in writing and I would let him know after I had time to consider it. Two days later, I received a contract and found it to my liking.
