I looked directly at Bella and Ralph. "My sister, Bella, has been having an affair with my ex-fiancé, Ralph, for a long time."
The room fell silent.
"And my parents have known about it the entire time. And I'm not the one with ALS."
The next second, the speakers throughout the ballroom crackled to life.
Ralph's voice rang out across the room. "Two years? I don't want to wait another day. Thank God, we have already called off the engagement. I have no intention of spending my life taking care of someone who'll eventually be completely helpless."
He continued, "These past five years with her have made me sick to my stomach. The only reason I managed to endure it was because of you. You're both Harris' daughters, so how is it that she's not even half as good as you at anything?"
