Chapter 6
Tori's POV
Once I was in my room, I mind-linked Rachel. I told her to be quiet when she gets home as my mate is sleeping on the couch. She was laughing.
“Why is he sleeping on the couch and not up there in your room with you?”
“Because he thinks I don't know. He's wearing a cloaking spray or something to hide it, so I'm just playing along until I tell him I have known all along,” she laughed again and then said,
‘Alright, I'm hugging dad and Cheyenne. Bye, I'll be home; just leave the door unlocked, or I'll just jump into the window in my room. Leave it up.” I rolled my eyes at her and her jumping ability. She can jump anything. She is actually, well, how should I put this? She is what my siblings call her, crazy lady. I understand why they called her that. She was my mother as well, but she betrayed my father, going to Cheyenne's mate and claiming him as hers. When Cheyenne found out, they beat her body so badly that it almost killed her. I remember it like it was yesterday. Dad came home and told us about what had happened. Cheyenne was nowhere to be found after that. An Elf found her and kept her safe until she was ready to come back to us. After that day, we have not even seen the Elf. We think she went back to her family but always watched to make sure that Cheyenne was okay. Dad, Cheyenne, and the family hunted down their mates and killed them. I couldn't blame Cheyenne. It took months for her to recover, but now, she looks beautiful. All the scars are gone, and she is completely healed from what they had done to her. I did see the scars on her back before they were gone. She didn't mean for me to see them; I just happened to walk into the bathroom when she was changing. I gasped. She quickly pulled her shirt back down, then hurried to me, hugging me and telling me it was okay. I still remember what I said to her,
“No, it's not okay, Cheyenne. My mother and your ex-mate had done this to you. I'm truly sorry for what they have done.” She held me tightly, making sure I was the one that was okay. She wasn't worried about herself; she was worried about me. After that day, we have been close. I even called her mom once or twice; she never made me call her that. It was my decision to do that, for Rachel. She wasn't sure how she fits into this family, but she knows she is very much loved. Ten minutes went by, and I heard her jumping into her window. I was laughing so hard. She hurried into the room, asking me what I was laughing about.
“What are you laughing about?” I smirked, telling her,
“I'm laughing about you jumping through the window like you were sneaking back inside after a long night of having fun.” She giggled, then her face turned serious.
"Listen, Cheyenne and I had a long talk tonight. I now realize it wasn't my fault that all of this went down. She told me everything was okay and that she loved me, that I would always have a home with her. I was so worried that she would look at me and see Mom and hate me for it, but she doesn't. Just because I look like her doesn't mean I am her.
"Girl, I have told you this time and time again. I have told you that you are worried for no reason. See, Cheyenne proved me right. She loves you, sis."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Come on, I want to shower and get some rest."
"Well, I'm not keeping you in my room, girl. Go shower and rest. I'll see you in the morning. I’ll tell you what's going on with that mate of mine downstairs in the morning." Shaking her head, she walked out of my room. I seriously hope one day she will find her mate so she can settle down and have her own family. I know about the one she had; he rejected her because he had already chosen a mate. He fell in love and didn’t want to hurt his mate or his children. They understood and then rejected each other. Now, I just hope my mate isn't doing the wrong thing. Is he the one that his uncle tossed out? Is his uncle really the bad one here? I have no clue. I need to figure things out. I knew I liked a little crazy, but how much crazy can I handle?"
