Rewards

Initially, for this task, it was rated as a two-star ranking but it suddenly shoots up to become a 4-star ranking instead. For a 2 star ranking for this particular task, the adventurers would be paid 20 silver each for each successful town they had managed to entice over. So far, they had successfully brought in the Irish Travellers which amount to more than a 100 newly inducted residents to our town and now, they had managed to bring in more than 300 residents from Camp over to our town. Let's say they had brought in a total of 500 residents and they would earn 40 silvers each for being able to persuade these 2 groups over. On top of that, it won't hurt the main treasury if we were to reward them an additional to make them be a 100 silvers each since the risk that they had gone through. A 100 silvers in Gracehaven would represent 2 gold coins where outside it would be worth 5 gold coins each. No matter how they would feel most appreciated if they were rewarded according to their effort and worth. It's decided then, the MacDonough's party would receive 100 silvers each and the Mackenzie's would receive 40 each for their efforts so far. It would be a far cry from what the MacDonough's party was getting but it's well worth it. If anything goes wrong during the task, they might get apprehended and we would never get to see or hear their names again. Besides, I have plans for these Adventurers once they had returned back to town to undertake two courses before they move out in about two weeks time. With the new skills, I am sure that these Adventurers would be well equipped with the knowledge and be able to earn more coins as well as performing multiple tasks at the same time. It was before long after I had finished the whole roasted meat when I heard the distant neighing of horses which meant that the 16 wagons had finally arrived at our little encampment. Licking my fingers and at the same time greeting them, the occupants of the wagons looked pretty exhausted because most of them had never travelled outdoors after 9 in the evening and it seemed that they would be needing some sleep before they would continue on. Fortunately, there were 14 horse-driven wagons and each wagon carried 2 dozen citizens. If they were to trek, I don't think they would last until now. The distance covered by the wagons was surprisingly good since we had already past Broderbund and now left one more stop before reaching Aidi Village and then the pine forests, before reaching the perimeters of our town. Without a proper map and charting tools, it would be difficult to actually find out the distance and we could only mark out using the known landmarks. A larger bonfire was made, a cauldron of water was brought to boil as to serve tea all around and another cauldron was set up to prepare pottage for supper or early morning breakfast. There was bread taken from the bakery, courtesy of Burns who managed to salvage all the bread that he and the rest of his workers had prepared for the past few hours before. It would be enough to break the pieces of bread and shared with the hungry citizens before we make our next move to our destination. "Your Majesty, what is that in your lap? Been writing again while waiting for us to arrive?" Gwen pointed to the journal at my sides and I nodded my head and shown it to her. She was delighted to know that such medals existed and it was not only one but were two medals that would be made by Old Jack later on at the Blacksmith area. I explained the Macleod Star and then the Good Service medal and she agreed that the Macleod Star be awarded to the MacDonough for their valour and the Good Service medals to be awarded to the Guinness and Mackenzie's party. At least we both are on the same frequency and be able to compromise and agree on the rewards that the adventurers would be getting too. "Heh... Great minds think alike, don't you think Gwen? By the way, could I say something now since  I didn't have the right moment and opportunity to say to you earlier." "What is the matter, Your Majesty?" Gwen asked innocently but she knew what was coming and pretend not to know it. "Hahaha. It seemed you do have some pent up frustration that you managed to let go on the poor sod earlier. That's why I never stopped you when you started whipping him. I was supposed to mean for you to stop Gregory's wife from hitting the skinny fella earlier and not for you to join hands and form a tag team. Hahaha." We laughed out loud when we mentioned the incident earlier and Frank managed to breath easy since he knew that his wife's wrath couldn't be stifled down if she was in such a rage. "So what do you need to do first when we reach the town, Your Majesty? Should we proceed with the registration and then accommodate them to rest for the day?" "Depending on what time we reach back town, Gwen. I guess if we reach there before dinner time, we would be able to register them accordingly, break for dinner and then usher them to their new homes." "Then we would be reimbursing them for the end of the remaining days of the month so that they have something to look forward to." "Besides, we have a boy that needs treatment and this would be a priority for the boy and his parents and the submission to the hospital would be done on the next following day." "As for the 336 residents, we need their details so we would know how many children would be placed in daycare and elementary classes." "It would be the same procedures all over again and these new residents would be joining the westernmost second cluster for their residential." "We also need to get old Jack to produce these medals and be made into a few more in case the other Adventurers had managed to reach a certain breakthrough in their efforts." As for the Adventurers Guild, since you at here and not at the guild, so I assume Michelle had put on hold for all tasks available. Once we had arrived, reserve a single directional point for MacDonough's group for 3 tasks." "The would be charting the maps, locating the mythical creatures and also flushing out the good and evil Witches as well." "If they come across villages or settlements that had not been visited by the adventurers, then they would also be enticing the residents to come over if they have their own means of transportation." "If the need arises, we would be able to supply our won since we have more than 20 wagons at our disposal. Just say the word and we will come and pick them up." "Gwen, for this cumulative reward system for the 3 tasks set it for 150 silvers each for the members. It is between two stars and four-star ranking for all the 3 tasks at hand." "Besides we have an assassin accompanying them so I don't think they would be making any foolish mistakes since they are now a bit more experienced when they first started off." Gwen and Frank took note of this and Maria Martin was proud to hear that the Irish Travellers were being recognised for their experiences off and in the field and also being highly regarded by us. This was the first time she had heard of such high rewards being given to youths of less than 18 years old and had to shoulder such a huge responsibility at a young age as well. Later on, Gwen related to Maria Martin that I was just like them before and had managed to bring the level of standard living conditions to this stage. It was fortunate that I was being guided by the pioneers and would have not survived even for 3 days if left alone in the wilderness. Maria Martin nodded her head in apprehension as she heard what was being narrated by Gwen about our past before. She commented that I was lucky to be able to meet them by chance and then by chance they had managed to start off from a small encampment with just a few people right till the present. After the whole residents had their fills, they made do by huddling close to the huge bonfire as they fell asleep in their old tattered blankets. As some elderly were placed to sleep on the wagons, the young decided to kill around and share stories by Gwen and Frank as they listened on how we managed to stay alive after they themselves were sieged by the rebels. The residents around knew how hard the time was and even they themselves were separated from their families during the wars. Some lost their loved ones while some remarried and moved on. Other than that they travelled from one town to another to find the right place to settle in and fortunately during that time, they had come across Camp and decided to make their home. Little did they knew they had fallen into a hell hole and only today they had been finally released and able to breathe easy. Tonight, under the starry and moonless night, they all learnt about the hardships that we had undergone before and was surprised at how remarkable we managed to stand together even with so little people during that time. What they didn't know that the coins that I had brought along as well as those brought back by Eagle had helped to move the wheel of life in a full circle nonstop and increased our survival rate even further. That's where everything seemed to fall in place like a perfect jigsaw puzzle. "Alright now, it's time to get some shut eye. We won't know the time right now so right after this, please have your rest and then we would move out after breakfast tomorrow morning." "We would need to travel for a full day until our Adventurers advance party had pointed to our next stopping point to rest and recover. The horses need to have their rest as well and be watered and fed." "According to the Adventurers advance party there would be some pine trees and that's where our home would be right after. Alright, let's rest up and have a good night rest everyone." Eagle announced to the 300 over residents and they all murmured their agreement and had to make do for this moment since they had no other preparations to shelter them under the skies at this moment. After they had found their places to rest, Eagle came to me and exclaimed reported his findings as I showed him the journal. He was delighted to know that there's some kind of recognition medals to be given out within these town weeks when the MacDonough's party attends classes. "It's a good move, Your Majesty. Alright, I'm off to get some rest too. A power snooze of about two hours of undisturbed sleep would do a great deal for the mind and body." Eagle suggested as he excused himself and heads towards his own group of Shadow units. As for me, I curled up nicely with my old cloak and soon the crickets were lulling me to sleep.
