Bloody Mess

1057 Words
We arrived at the location where we were given the address for the job site. The location was only a block away from Club Fang N’ Bang. Me and Kev look at each other and I feel slightly uncomfortable knowing that a murder happened here so close to where we were drunk last night. Me and Kev walk into a warehouse that is sectioned off with police tape. The regular detectives and policemen greet us. They are putting the bodies in the body bags and moving them to the vans. The bodies will head to the morgue and once the officers are finished they will let us come clean up the mess. The stretchers are loaded when I see a familiar face lying in the body bag. The guy that tried to approach me last night was lying there dead with his throat ripped out. Kevin gasped beside me and I noticed his face pale. What’s wrong with you I ask him in a low voice. That’s the guy that robbed us last night, he whisper, yells. What? This guy approached me last night outside the club with a group of guys. One of the detectives steps up, you guys have met this one? We both saw him last night, Kevin sighs. Detective this man approached me last night aggressively and this is the same man that robbed my group of friends. I think it is best if you aren’t the ones to clean up this scene just to keep your nose clean. Thank you, officer, we are sorry to not be of any help tonight. No you guys have helped out a lot. We suspected that this gang of men was up to no good. My partner will take your statements to have it on file. Kevin and I gave the officer a detailed statement of what happened last night at the club and left. Since we didn’t have work we chose to head to the shop to do paperwork and order supplies. The night did not pass by as fast as I would have liked, my mind kept wondering back to this morning and I was getting super excited about our date. I still wasn’t sure what I was going to wear or if we would be eating at his house or in town. We were finally finished with the night when the door to the office opened, in walked in Kev and another police officer. Ma’am, he states and tips his hat. I looked at him with a questioning look to show him I was confused about why he was there. Sorry to bother you ma’am I just came to ask if you would come to the station with me please. May I ask why? I don’t understand, I tell him getting super scared. Ma’am I was asked to escort you of your own free will if you don’t want to come I’m sure we can get a warrant. A warrant? Why would things need to get that serious? Can you at least tell me what this is about? I am not at liberty to give you any information. Something about this is sending red flags but I don’t need any legal issues. I will go with you but only because I want to find out what’s going on and why I’m being treated so harshly, I tell him. Kev is quiet but nods in my direction when I hand him my keys to lock up. I get into the back seat of the police car and a sense of unease washes through me. I have never been in trouble before and I don’t know much about law. I should consider reading up so I won’t be unprepared in the future. The drive is taking forever and that itself is a red flag because our police station is just down the road from my business office. I look up the police station directions on my phone and see we are well away from the station house. I send Kevin a text and tell him I think something is wrong. I send him my find a friend location and this brings me a bit of peace. He texted me back telling me he called the station and there was no officer by the name that guy gave us. I feel myself starting to panic, what is happening? We will be there soon sorry I took the long way. I look up at this guy in the rearview mirror and try not to give away my panic but I still see his face change as he looks down at my phone. Ma’am my boss is looking forward to talking with you and then I will take you home. He was at the station but asked if we could just meet at his home. I nod my head but I still feel something isn’t right. Kev called and he's not an officer so who was this man? I text Kev again. I tell him I’m putting my phone on silent so it doesn’t draw any more attention and promise to text him every half hour and if he doesn’t hear from me in thirty minutes to call the cops again. We soon pull into a driveway to a house I have never seen before. The fake cop opens the door and lets me out but keeps his hand on my elbow like he’s scared I’m gonna bolt. He is right the thought crossed my mind but I have a full understanding that I am not as graceful as most. I have watched enough crime and horror movies to know I would be the first one killed. With that thought in mind, I go where this hunk leads me. He doesn’t knock on the door and I can’t decide if he’s just rude or if that’s what’s expected. I roll my eyes slightly but focus on where we are headed. The house inside is kinda weird. Every window has blackout curtains and the interior design is very dark. I could see a night shift worker living here for sure. I am envious that this person probably gets better sleep than me. Look who it is. We seem to keep running into each other. I look over and see a face I didn’t think I would ever see again.
