Chapter 27

1975 Words
As we turned to the noise we could see Alphonse sitting on the ground and Cadmael's sword completely destroyed as well as a nearby oak tree. I jumped up and ran to Cadmael: "Are you okay? What happened?" Gilbert looked at Alphonse and smiled: "You are not asking the right person." He extended an arm to help Alphonse up. He was shaking but was fine. Cadmael smiled and stared at his sword innocently: "I guess I got a little carried away. -A little? Asked Gilbert." The teacher came running and started shouting at Cadmael: "What do you think you are doing? Alphonse could have gotten seriously hurt! -He is fine. I would have stopped if he didn't dodge. -What happened for you to behave that way? Can't you control your strength at all? Do you know how expensive this sword was? Are you going to pay for it?" I quickly jumped in and proposed to pay for the sword but for some reason Cadmael stood between the teacher and I completely blocking me. "Take Alphonse to the infirmary. Check him for any injuries." Cadmael shrugged: "He is fine." The teacher didn't listen to Cadmael and Alphonse got taken to the infirmary for a check up while Cadmael was being escorted to the principal's office. We couldn't follow them so Gilbert and I stayed behind. I was being really worried however Gilbert on the other hand couldn't care less and already forgot what happened: "Oh I had something to tell you! -Yes? -Something really strange happened. I think Andrew told me the truth. -Does he lie often? -That's not what I meant. He told me he liked someone and maybe he does. -What makes you say that? -He usually sleeps around with everyone but now that I think about it he spends all his time with me and we don't even sleep together. I don't know what's gotten into him. Is he really in love? How could that happen? -Who would he be in love with?" Gilbert laughed: "I don't know but RIP for the happy person." Gilbert suddenly shook his head: "You know what? It can't be. I'm sure it's just a phase. I started thinking about it because I felt as if he kept coming to see me but I'm sure I just read too much into it. -Why don't you ask him?" Gilbert seemed really surprised by my question: "Why would I do that? -If you ask then you'll know for sure. -I guess you're right. -He did say that he was in love with a man right? Isn't that enough by the way? -I have no idea what's going on in his head." Cadmael finally came out from the office and I ran to him: "What happened?" Cadmael shrugged while smirking: "Nothing. It was an accident and Alphonse is fine. They just told me to pay more attention in the future. -We should go check on Alphonse." Cadmael frowned: "But he is fine." I tilted my head and crossed my arms as if talking to a kid: "Alphonse is your friend. And when your friend is in the infirmary you have to go check on them." Cadmael nodded and didn't argue anymore. This made Gilbert laugh for some reason and we headed to the infirmary. Alphonse was sitting on a bed and was in fact completely fine. When we arrived he looked up and seemed in a bad mood. Especially when seeing Cadmael. If his eyes could speak they would say: "How can you be this strong?" I went up to him and sat down on the bed: "Are you okay? -Yes. The sword didn't touch me. -That's reassuring." I looked at Cadmael expecting him to apologize which he did immediately: "I'm sorry. Next time I'll pay more attention." Everyone seemed surprised for some reason and Gilbert almost choked on his saliva. He left saying he had something to do, his face bright red. "You are really talented, Alphonse. -Thank you. -I think you are the only one who can keep up with Cadmael. That's amazing! You can be proud of yourself. -It's usually easy. Well, except against that guy." I laughed. "He is very strong. I think he would be able to uproot a tree with one finger." Alphonse imagined it and laughed. "But he isn't as strong inside. He is very shy and I am happy that he made a good friend. You seem very nice Alphonse and I would love to get to know you better. You eat with us from time to time but I don't know a lot about you. -There's nothing to know. -That's not true! Everyone has their own story to tell. What you like, what you hate. Everything is important. For example: I love lemon and I hate being cold." I smiled: "Your turn." Alphonse thought for a second feeling a little shy all of a sudden: "I hate pistachio and I like... I like... -Take your time. -I like... I guess I like tea. -Me too! See? I feel way closer to you now." For some reason Alphonse looked away, his cheeks a little red. "I feel like you need to hear this but if I am prying too much then I'm sorry: talent doesn't mean perfection. You can choose what you do with your life. Sometimes having a talent feels stuffy because we feel as if we couldn't do anything else. But having people repeat again and again how good you are doesn't mean you can't make mistakes." Alphonse seemed at a loss for words. "I'm sorry. I guess I said too much. Again, I am really happy that you are there for Cadmael. See you soon." Alphonse didn't say anything and we left. On the other side, Gilbert had run into Andrew who seemed really worried for some reason. He grabbed Gilbert as soon as he saw him and looked all over his face: "What are you doing? Checking for freckles? -Are you okay? I heard you went to the infirmary. -First, chill. Don't stalk me like that. Second I did but it wasn't for me." Andrew signed and backed away: "Thank God. -I assure you, god had nothing to do with it. I just decided not to get hurt today. Maybe tomorrow. -Don't joke about getting hurt. That's not funny. -Well, humor is subjective. Why are you here by the way? -I came to see you. -You ran here because you thought I went to the infirmary? -Yes, I got really worried. -You are getting stranger and stranger with each passing day. -What did I do? -Are you really in love? -Yes." Gilbert couldn't believe it. He touched Andrew's cheek looking for a fever. Feeling this close proximity, Andrew quickly backed away is cheeks bright red: "What are you doing? -Are you okay? Do you have a fever? -I'm fine. What's going on? -It's been..." Gilbert started counting on his fingers but quickly gave up: "How long has it been since you last had s*x? Now that I think about it you didn't sleep with anyone for two months. Usually it's every two days. What's wrong with you? Are you sick?" Andrew shook his head: "You said I couldn't touch you." Gilbert blinked a few times taking time to reboot. "I really don't see how that makes sense. I didn't say you couldn't touch other people. Why don't you sleep with them? -I don't want to sleep with anyone else. -Are you really in love with someone? Do you really want to sleep only with them? What happened to you? Are you a clone? I have to say, the details are mind blowing. Great job." Andrew shook his head again really patient: "I want to sleep with only you." Gilbert blinked. "Me? -The contract ended and you didn't tell me if you were interested to continue. -Are you going on a strike just because you can't sleep with me? I knew I was good but that's too much. Sleep with someone I beg you. Your d**k will explode at this rate. -I love you. -Wait what? You like who? -I love you." Gilbert's eyes couldn't get rounder. He even looked around him to make sure this wasn't a joke. "One more time. -I love you." He finally understood and couldn't help laughing. Andrew somewhat expected it and waited for Gilbert to calm down. "I can't believe this. How could you love me? Technically we already went out together and you were really bad at relationships. That's an understatement. So give up already. -It wasn't the real you. I want to go out with you for real this time. I will treat you right, I promise. -Nope. Not happening. I deserve so much better than you. -I know and I promise to give you everything you want in the future. I really changed. -You didn't change. You are just throwing a strange tantrum. You like having everything and you couldn't have me so you started liking me. -I've liked you for a long time." Gilbert started laughing even more. His eyes even started to tear up a little. "Good joke. Great joke even but I need you to stop anyway." Andrew was hurt by Gilbert's reaction but it wasn't as if he expected anything else. He was indeed laughable. He felt so pitiful that he didn't care what Gilbert said. "I'm only here for the money. But if you decided that you were finally ready for a serious relationship then I could help you choose someone. -I only want you. -Not an option. What do you think about a cute blond? He is very small and has huge eyes. So cute. -Is he your type? -Not really." Andrew felt relieved for a short while but he quickly changed his mind: "Or I could have you meet a bigger brunet. He has a mischievous smile. So sexy." This destroyed Andrew's little speck of good mood. "Is he better looking than me? -What? Are you jealous? -Yes." Gilbert was really surprised that he would admit it which made him smile. "I never would have thought that the prince of the school would be jealous of someone. -Is he? -Is who what? -Is he better looking? -Hum... He has less muscles unfortunately but apart from that, yes. It's subjective of course. Most people would say that you are better looking. -I care only about what you think. -Stop or I'll throw up." Gilbert really seemed to have lost a few colors hearing Andrew talk. "I love you. I know that I don't deserve you but I just want to prove to you how much you matter to me. That's all I want. -It sounds burdensome. -I won't burden you. I'll continue taking you to school and pay for your three meals a day. -Wait then why did you want to pay me? Didn't you want to have s*x with me? -I do but only if you want to. -Is this the new contract? I do what I want and I just have to accept you feeding me in exchange for money? Doesn't make any sense. At least make it profitable for you. -It is. I told you. All I want is to treat you right." For some reason Gilbert had a really hard time grasping the situation. He couldn't understand why Andrew would do all this. "You'd be like a servant except the servant is paying for his treatment. -If that's what you want. -What are you? A p*****t? -I just want to... -I know, I know, treat me right. Yuk. I won't say no to free food but I can't accept money like that. Let's at least keep the sleeping together part. We'll sleep together once a week, this should be fine." Andrew would have loved more but he didn't dare bargain. "Okay."
