With the arrival of the audio/visual equipment at his bedside, Darque began to review all the media reporting that had taken place during the three days he had been unconscious.
The total casualty count at the Monument was 27 killed, 34 wounded (19 critically), and one severely injured dog that probably died because no one could find it.
One of the Tomb Guards was among the dead and two more had been wounded, and to add to the devastation at the site, the structures at the shrine had been hit by 286 projectiles that knocked chunks of marble off the memorial itself.
It didn’t take members of the bomb squad at the scene very long to figure out what type of explosive had been used, even before they found the evidence needed to prove it.
