Richard stood in the garden of Phoenix House, watching the sun rise over the mountains. The battle with William was behind him. The final threat had been eliminated. The war was finally, truly over. But as Richard looked out at the peaceful landscape, he felt a familiar restlessness stirring in his chest. I've spent my entire life fighting. Now that the fighting is over, what do I do with myself? Elena appeared at his side, her face peaceful and serene. "Richard, you've been standing here for hours. What's on your mind?" Richard turned to face her. "I've been thinking about the future, Elena. About what comes next." Elena reached out and took his hand. "And what have you concluded?" Richard squeezed her hand. "I've concluded that I need to find a new purpose. Something to fill the void that the war has left behind." Elena smiled—a warm, genuine expression. "Then we'll find it together, Richard. We'll find a new purpose." --- The days passed in a blur of reflection and healing. Richard spent his time with his family, reconnecting with the people who'd helped him survive. Miriam reached out and took his hand. "Then you'll find it, Richard. You've always found your way." Richard squeezed her hand. "Thank you, Mother. For everything." --- Richard found Elena in the garden, sitting by the fountain, her face peaceful and serene. "Elena," he said as he approached. "I've been thinking about the future. About what comes next." Elena looked up at him. "And what have you concluded?" Richard sat down beside her. "I've concluded that I need to find a new purpose. Something to fill the void that the war has left behind." Elena reached out and took his hand. "Then we'll find it together, Richard. We'll find a new purpose." Richard squeezed her hand. "Thank you, Elena. For everything." --- Richard stood at the window of his office at Phoenix House, looking out at the grounds. The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the gardens. The community was thriving—people laughing, working, building a new life together. I've spent my entire life fighting. Now it's time to live. Richard turned from the window and walked to his desk. The work was just beginning. --- His phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen—a message from an unknown number. "I need to see you. It's urgent. Come to the old warehouse—the one in the Dockside Slums. Come alone." Richard stared at the message, his heart pounding. Who sent this? And what do they want? Richard grabbed his coat and walked out the door.
