Chapter Four
After classes on Friday, we started preparations for a camping trip on Sunday. We had a vacation from school for Spring Break, so Annie and three of her friends had decided to drive up north and hike along the Mountain Lake Trail. There is a great camping spot with a fantastic waterfall along the river. It’s five or six miles in from the highway. Annie has decided that I would be willing to carry most of the girl’s gear for them. As I soon learned, I was going to be their mule or maybe their slave.
We’d be spending five days camping and hiking in the mountains far away from civilization. All of us had collected everything that we would need for the trip. There were tents and sleeping bags as well as clothes and food. When we got all done, there
was quite a pile of stuff.
