“Don’t get too comfortable. We’re going to need some more wood before long. Make sure you get enough to last for most of the night.” I sat there for a few more minutes and then got up and headed down the path. I had to go quite a ways before finding anything descent. Over the years the area around the camp spot had been picked pretty clean, but a quarter of a mile away there were several dead trees available. By breaking off longer sections, I could get a lot of wood back to the fire pit and make far fewer trips. As evening approached, I boiled water and prepared some of the freeze-dried meals for them.
