What don’t I know? A sick feeling spread through me as I wondered if the beliefs I had about the man I thought Al to be was erroneous. If I’d built him up to be a better person than he was. “I’m done with this.” My belly roiled. I stalked away, shaking off Al’s hand when he tried to catch my arm. “Kane!” Adams yelled. “I gave you an order. Follow it or you’re through.” I spun on my heel and whipped out my wallet. I pulled out a card as I marched over to Deputy Dipshit, nearly smiling when he flinched as I put the card in his hand. “That’s my attorney. Her liberal heart will palpitate with joy over the lawsuit she’ll be able to file regarding my wrongful termination—all because I wouldn’t allow myself to be tagged like a pet dog.” I smiled at the thought of Patty finding out about this
