Chapter 2Once we reached our destination and walked into the police station in Wellington, all activity and noise stopped. My skin crawled and I had to fight the urge to bare my teeth as every eye turned to stare at me, but I shoved my reaction away and kept my chin up. Al walked up to the front desk, ID already in his hand. “We’re with DID. Agents Kane and Barker here to meet with Sheriff Peters.” The older lady he addressed stared at me with what was clearly horrified fascination.
