Chapter 6

474 Words
Savannah arrived at the hospital to see Sebastien who was in a car accident on his way to the restaurant for their date. Savannah felt guilty for thinking he stood her up as she arrived at the nurse's station. “May I help you?” the RN on duty asked Savannah. “Yes, I'm looking for Sebastien Santiago's room number?” Savannah greeted the RN. “Are you family?” the RN questioned her. “No, I'm just a friend.” “I'm sorry, Mr. Santiago's visits are limited to family only.” the RN informed her. “Can't you make an exception?” “If I made an exception for one person, I'd have to do so for everyone.” the RN pointed out. “Yea, I understand.” as Savannah started to leave, but the RN's supervisor stepped in. “Patricia, his visitor status changed due to his change in condition.” her supervisor told her. “Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't told by anyone of that change.” the RN apologized. Turning back to Savannah, the RN said, “Miss, Mr. Santiago's room number is 346.” “Thank you.” Savanna said as she headed for the elevator to take her to the third floor. When Savannah arrived at Sebastien's room, he was awake in his hospital bed as he smiled upon her entrance to his room. “I'm so glad you could make it.” Sebastien said. “I have to admit I thought you stood me up until a coworker told me what happened.” Savannah replied. “Apparently I have a broken leg.” Sebastien said, trying to break the ice between them. “I see that. Does it hurt?” “No, not really.” Sebastien said, trying to be strong, but she could see the pain in his face. “I'm still up for the date when you're able.” Savannah told Sebastien, trying to make him feel better and not really knowing what to say. “Thanks. It broke my heart when I realized what was happening.” “Can I help with anything while you recuperate?” Savannah offered. “Yes, can you check on my puppy at home? I haven't been home in a while and he's probably a little lonely?” Sebastien replied. “Sure, I'll head over there now.” Savannah said, “But one thing?” “What's that?” “I don't know where you live?” “Oh, sorry.” Sebastien said as he wrote down his address for her. “Wow! I didn't know you lived so near to my home?” Savannah commented when she read the address on the paper. “Well, I guess that's a good thing?” Sebastien said winking at her. “Yeah, maybe.” Savannah said on her way out.
