The Medieval Council

3692 Words

The Medieval Council We met the Teuton council on a Saturday, three days after Joel’s adventures in Muniche. The eldest of the council members requested that we come to them at the traditional Teuton meeting place of Muniche, a sizeable glade in a forest beside the banks of the Isar. The place sounded similar to where we held Teutonic festivals and weddings in my own era, and I suspected that it may very well be quite close to the clearing I knew well. The meeting place was said to be about two Wegstuntae from the Meldorf estate, a local measurement that equaled about seven-and-a-half kilometers. Count von Meldorf allowed us to ride three of his horses to the meeting, for he asserted that two Wegstuntae would be quite a long walk and that we needed to be in good health once we got there.
