“Nothing improper, Uncle. I’ve been helping Elena with her situation. Providing protection. A safe place to stay.”
“He’s been very helpful,” Elena said quickly, trying to defuse the situation. “Really. I wouldn’t have survived last night without him.”
Alessandro’s eyes were sharp, missing nothing. “How long has she been staying with you?”
“Since the confrontation with Isabelle Laurent. Two nights.”
