Chapter Six
Reassurance
Julian placed a gentle hand on Sandra's shoulder. "Sandra, you don't need to worry about Alexander. He'll come around. Trust me, he knows his father more than we do."
Sandra nodded, her eyes remained fixated. "I hope so, Julian. We really need him."
Meanwhile Henry Blackwood knew he needed to up his game. Sandra is definitely in a tight corner now. He thought. He summoned his assistant, Kate, to his office.
"Kate, my dear, it's time to play our trump card," he said, a wry grin spreading across his face. "Leak the news and let the whole world know who Sandra actually is.”
Kate nodded, unsure of what to say. "Right away, sir." She managed to say, bewildered.
Alexander sat in his leather armchair, lost in his thoughts, his eyes fixed on the TV, the soft glow of the evening news casting an eerie light on his troubled face.
Alexander’s eyes narrowed as he watched, leaning against the armchair. Suddenly he gasped. Sandra!?.
Had he made a mistake trusting her? Or was it another of his father's lethal scheme?.
Alexander's doubts about Sandra persisted, but she looked too innocent, he couldn't help but sense that his father was manipulating the narratives from behind the scenes.
“Just like he did to my mother.”! Alexander hissed
With a newfound sense of resolve, Alexander decided to embark on a meticulous inquiry, driven by his desire to unravel the tangled webs of deception and uncover the hidden truth. The thrill of the hunt ignited within him, and he became consumed by the quest for answers.
He started by reviewing the presenter's view on Sandra, looking for any inconsistencies. But the man in question, he remembered once meeting him in his Father's office! But who was he? And what relationship does he have with his father and why is he connected to Sandra? Alexander slumped back on his chair.
As Alexander's investigation unfolded, he discovered a vase of lies and corruption, woven with threads of greed and deceit that went far beyond Sandra's past mistake. The scope of his father's machinations stunned him, and he realized he never knew him to this extent, a master of forgery operations, with ruthless tactics to silence anyone who threatened to shake his empire.
Alexander’s quest for truth had become a dangerous game, at each turn, Alexander's discovery threatened to ensnare him. He had been so focused on Sandra that he had overlooked the real Villain, but he was ready for anything, even his father.
His resolve ignited as the truth finally illuminated his darkest doubts, he felt a surge of determination. He would expose His Father's crimes and bring him to justice, no matter the cost. He must confront him.
Father and Son confrontation
Alexander stormed into Henry Blackwood's office, his eyes fixated, a hint of determination expressed all over him: “Henry, we need to talk."
Henry looked up from his desk, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Ah, Alexander. What's this about?, and … you called me by name?." He asked, perplexed.
“You know exactly what this is about," Alexander spat, his voice firm. "Your forgery schemes, your manipulations.....it's all coming to an end.”
Henry chuckled, his expression condescending. "You think you can take me down, son? I've built an empire. I'm untouchable… and don't forget about.."
Alexander slammed his fist on the desk, not allowing his father complete his last sentence. Henry flinched. "You're not untouchable, Father. You're a criminal, and I have the evidence to prove it…. and I've never forgotten.”
Henry's face turned red with rage. "You dare to threaten me? After everything I've done for you?"
"Done for me?" Alexander's voice rose. "You've used me, manipulated me, and lied to me, same way you're doing with Sandra. You're not a father, you're a monster!."
Henry's eyes flashed with anger. "How dare you! I'll ruin you, just like I've ruined Sandra. You'll be nothing without me."
Alexander smiled coldly. "I'm already nothing, thanks to you. But I'll make sure you pay for your crimes, Somehow you will… ‘Father’..” Alexander said, sarcastically.
The atmosphere between them was electric, the air heavy with the weight of unspoken threats. Henry's face contorted into a vicious sneer, and for a moment, Alexander sensed a flicker of fear pierced through his mind. But he quickly waved it away, the moment hung suspended, but he must face it.
Alexander reached out for his pocket and pulled out a folder, his hands shaking with rage. "You want to know what I have, Father? I have proof of your forgery schemes, your fake art sales, and your manipulation of the art market. I have witness statements, documents, and recordings. You're finished."
Henry's face turned white, his eyes blazing with anger. "You'll never use that against me!”... He paused. “You should have known me too well by now.” He said, wryly.
Alexander chuckled. "You can't destroy what's already ruined.. Remember you told me that…Your empire is built on lies, and it's crumbling down, just before your very eyes!."
Henry slammed his fist on the desk, making the room shake. "I'll kill you before I let you take everything away from me!”. Henry paused. “Sometimes I wonder if I'm the one that gave birth to you”. A cold shiver ran through Alexander's spine, he was stunned.
Undeterred, Alexander took a step back, his eyes never leaving Henry's face. "You're not capable of killing anyone, Father. You're a coward, hiding behind your wealth and power." He retorted.
Henry's face contorted in a snarl, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "You have no idea what I'm capable of, Alexander. You have no idea what I've done to keep my empire alive…. "
Alexander's eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "I think I do, Father. And I have one final piece of evidence to prove it.”
With a deliberate slowness and confidence, Alexander drew out a small, exquisitely crafted box from his pocket, its delicate lid creaking open to reveal a tiny golden locket. Henry's eyes widened in horror as Alexander's words hung in the air like a dark prophecy, the locket seeming to pulsate with a malevolent energy that made Henry's very soul shudder. But he was not to be manoeuvred, not by his son.
“Recognize this, Father? It's the locket you gave to Mother, the one she wore on the night she died. The police found it at the scene of the accident, but it was never reported. You made sure of that, didn't you, Father?"
Henry's face turned beet red, his eyes frozen in shock. Alexander's words hung in the air like a challenge, how dare him to challenge him.
And then, Henry's expression changed, his eyes flashing with a sinister light that made Alexander's blood ran cold. "You'll never prove it," he sneered. "I've covered my tracks too well Son…."
Alexander smiled, a cold, calculated smile. "I don't need to prove it, Father. I have one final witness, one who will testify to your crimes…. It's obvious your end is near"
Henry's eyes narrowed, his voice dripping with venom. "How dare you to talk to me in that manner?!.."
Alexander's smile grew wider. " There's Someone I'll like you to meet, someone you least expect, Father…… He's been waiting for the perfect moment to strike." Henry stood still, unfazed.
And with that, the door to Henry's office burst open, a man stepped inside, his eyes fixed on Henry with a fierce determination that made Henry uneasy.
"Hello, Henry," A familiar voice that left Henry stunned. His voice low and menacing. "It's time to pay for your sins… I've waited for this moment all my life"
Henry's eyes widened in shock as he realized who he was, and Alexander's smile grew even wider, kno
wing that his father's empire was finally about to come crashing down. His end is imminent.
