CHAPTER TEN: Captain Sani

500 Words
Sir Adediran sat back on his chair rubbing his temple. It seems Kunle really loved this one, he already knew this, he was prepared, but reality was harsher… this needs to end now. He picked up his phone and made a call. “Inspector, I thought this case should have been solved before I returned?” He asked, immediately the call connected, without giving the other party time to speak. “Good day sir, hope your trip wasn't stressful” the other party responded fawningly “Stop with these nonsense and answer my question” Sir Adediran warned, slightly irritated “It should have been solved but it blew out of proportion, the public got a hold of the news and they would need an answer at least” the other party explained “An answer is never hard to give, and you know that” “I know, but Captain Sani has been moved back to the station and he is presiding over this case, he has always been a tough nut to c***k and his connections makes him difficult to remove” the other explained further, fearing a reprimand. “Captain sani…a tough one indeed. Did he recommend Detective Tara to this case?” Sir Adediran acknowledged and asked “Yes he did, but she can be handled. As long as she gets answers she would be fine. I just need to get her the right answers” the other party responded. “Wrap it up quickly” Sir Adediran said, not waiting for a response before ending the call. He looked towards the door listening to the faint retreating footsteps and the retreating shadows. He smiled. **** Later that week a package was sent to Detective Tara’s office from the Adediran's mansion. She opened it with caution. Unexpectedly, she saw a phone and memory cards, with a note. Aisha's phone CCTV That was it. She did not expect Kunle Adediran to come through with his promise. She rushed to put on the phone and searched through it but it was empty. That is odd The CCTV footage was sent to officer Tunde to retrieve. A call came, inspector Duro needed her in his office. “I heard you just received a package from the Adediran's mansion” he asked “Yes sir, a CCTV storage device and a phone although both are empty” she replied “A lead is still a lead, send them to officer Tunde” he instructed. “I have already done that sir” she replied “Good job, but next time report to me before you make such decisions, many eyes are on this case” he cautioned. “I understand sir, there will not be a next time,” she replied. “You can go back to your work, while we wait for the results. You are in charge of this case, however I still need to be informed, understood?” He asked “Yes sir” He dismissed her.
