When that Time I Borrowed Time (Ongoing)

TIME ONE - I

R-Van POV

It's morning and I just got up in bed, ready for work when I received a message from May Ann.

"Hey babe, when will your work be done?" she texted me.

"I don't know what time my work will be finished, babe. Maybe there are many things I will have to fix. Why do you ask?" I replied.

I got ready for work and left my house, starting the engine of my car. On my way to the office, I saw that the city was crowded as usual, with many projects being built and buildings everywhere, old and new, but all outstanding.

It's the year 2050. Looking at my phone, I saw that my schedule for the day was listed under the date March 21, with the work file code DDO-1446-XZA.

When I arrived at my office, I went to the elevator and clicked F12 R10. This elevator was unique in that it could quickly teleport passengers to their destination just around the workplace. When I arrived at the front door of my office, I took out my access card to enter.

"Voice code please," the security lock commanded.

"Ryker," I said, and the door opened. I went inside and turned on my computer. I typed in the command prompt, "Ace W File_DDO-1446 - XZA" to access the work I needed to do. I was instructed to copy the file 'PROJECT ZERO'.

This project was currently being worked on by the company 'PARALLEL.' Our company had investigated it, and the intel said they were in project time zero, but they could not enter the existing facility due to high-security restrictions. That's why I was the best person for this job. I was working at a well-known top private investigator company in all sectors called DONE, and I was one of the best in the Bypass Sector High Tables in our company.

I prepare my computer and began checking through all the files. Currently, I am bypassing PARALLEL.

I am aware that my job isn't morally right, but I have grown accustomed to this line of work. I have been working with this company since my teenage years, and they have given me a good life.

Working out bypassing PARALLEL, then someone texts me.

[Ahh maybe busy, never mind I just want to watch it in the cinema with you] May Ann text me.

I read it and replied, "Sorry babe, I'm still working. Maybe we can watch a movie later tonight instead? My treat."

After sending the message, I continued to work on bypassing PARALLEL. It had been a long time since I started working for this company. I knew that my work wasn't right, but it provided me with a good life.

An hour passed, and I was still pressing buttons on the keyboard, but I couldn't find the files for project zero. I searched through many folder documents, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. This company was so cunning that some documents were empty, with no bytes or any number given, but I was even more cunning. I did a lot of work to bypass their deep hide.

I checked some files, but I wasn't interested in them because they weren't the files I needed for project zero. I checked the time on my phone, and it was nearly noon - 11:48 AM, to be exact.

Then, I received another message from May Ann.

[have you ready the food for your lunch babe?] she asks.

[ Sorry babe I didn't prepare ... I'm busy, I will just order food *]sent.

[Tssk.. you're becoming a workaholic again! Think first about yourself, your stomach will start crying. ] she replies

[Love you! You know I love you more than myself. So, eat instead of worrying about me. It will make you stronger and ready for the time when I make you my breakfast, lunch, and dinner.] sent

[Okay, I will eat now. You too. I love you so much more than you love me.] she replies

We communicate only via text messages because the company records all communication, including calls and messages. I wanted my communication with May Ann to be private, so I planned to use the bypassing method, but only for text messages since it had the lowest KB rate.

I returned to my computer, checking every file on it as I continued to bypass PARALLEL. Despite knowing that my work isn't morally right, I had been working for the company since my teenage years, and it has provided me with a good life.

As I worked, my order arrived.

"Mister Ryker, your order is here, shall it proceed to your office?"I pressed the access button to grant access to the delivery to send it to my office through the teleportation system. It arrived quickly at my table, and I opened it to reveal a strip of beef steak with special gravy, rice, and a soft drink. After finishing my meal, I continued working.

An hour later, I checked the time on my cellphone and saw that it was already 5:58 P.M. I noticed that I had missed messages because my phone was in silent mode, and I was too focused on my work. Despite my efforts, I still could not find the files related to time zero, which was what I was tasked to do. It was not surprising that the intel was incorrect, since all the staff working for PARALLEL are quite secretive.

I checked my phone and saw a message from May Ann at 2:45 P.M. She asked if I had eaten my afternoon snack.

'3:00 P.M' [have you eaten your afternoon snack yet?].

'3:15 P.M' [my love was so busy, pk babe take care of yourself don't get overwork babe!]. that's all the messages I read May Ann.

I love May Ann I knew she loves me too, but I was disappointed in myself because I have not given enough time with her. I cannot just leave this work because it is very important to the company, I want to retire because I am contented with what I have but it is complicated because I have been contracted to work here for 10 years, I knew I work here in 10 years, but there's an important thing I should do, I should find a person who will replace me with the same talent as mine and skill. Isn't so hard? that someone can par my level of skill, 1 to 1,000,000 was the ratio that's why it is so hard.

I just reply to May Ann.

[ok babe, I will rest early, don't worry I eat snacks a while ago, you too babe sleep early and don't get late with no friends accompanying you, love you*] sent...

A minute later she replies. I notify it because I strengthen the volume to 150% limit on my phone so I can hear it I know she is the one who texts because the ringtone is her voice "I love you" that was the ringtone ringing again and again

I read May Ann's texts. [Yes Sir!! Love your sir....]

[love you soo much too babe....] I reply

An hour's pass I'm on my computer I eat what I order at noon, it is two of them so there's one meal left. I didn't notice I've sleep...

May Ann POV

Evening, I look at the time on my phone '8:28 P.M' so my friend takes me for a small tour.

We go to the night park, there were many amusements, there were always fireworks here also there were fountains with so much color and so many more amusements.

I hope I'm with R-Van it so much happier with him, I understand and know he's so busy, that's okay.

I walk around the park, I buy all things I get interested in. As I walk I see that there was no customer gets inside that shop so I got interested, so I go enter the shop, the seller thank me that I come in. She's old and she only wishes is that someone will buy the works that she made.

I love the love necklace that told by the lady, its shape is obviously a heart and it was hiding mystery, cool. This necklace was for the two lovers, the necklace should have the picture of their loved ones if something bad will happen to your beloved the mirror on the necklace will break.

Of course, I bought also for R-Van, it is a bronze silver pocket watch because R-Van didn't like to have things that wear around, so this thing was for him because it can be put in the pocket.

The lady told me that this pocket watch had a special connection to the owner that's the only thing she told me and I was interested to give it to R-Van to let him think with me when he looks at the pocket watch.

When I'm done buying the things I find my friends, I look at the time on my phone '9:50 P.M' I bid farewell to my friends because it's late, R-Van told me not to get late and rest early.
