KatieI waited days for Deacon to call. “He doesn’t care about me,” I pouted to Anna. We were lounging in my living room, going over my plans for the next month. “If he cares about me, he would’ve called me.” Anna rolled her eyes. “That’s not true,” she said. “How did things end? I mean, you didn’t really get to talk to him much when they got Ryan, did you?” I shook my head, letting my perfectly-waved blonde hair fall in front of my face. “I couldn’t talk to him,” I confessed. “I was covered in bruises and cuts. And besides, those cops dragged me off before I had a chance to say anything.” I swallowed hard. Deep down, I was glad the cops had done something before I’d had a chance to embarrass myself further.
