Jeremy’s pull on me is still something I do not understand. I admit that at first, when I saw Daniel rushing to the woman and calling her mommy, I thought I had been played for a fool and that Jeremy had lied to me. That he was, in fact, a married man who intended to have a brief affair with me, and my heart had been crushed.
I had that familiar betrayal replaying in my mind again, Cruise and Daphne with their lips locked, burned into my thoughts. I did have that brief, ugly moment of wondering if I’m not good enough for a man to be truthful with me.
