“Are you okay?” Morgan touches her lips to my hand.
“Yeah. Just thinking through everything that has happened. Seems surreal.” I squeeze her hand tightly.
“Indeed it does, Ms. Keller. I cannot tell you again how sorry I am that you got dragged into this. It’s all my fault that you were put in harm’s way. I promise you that I will always protect you.”
Wow! Sounds like she is sticking around. This is new for her. I want to probe this further but decide to just enjoy her and this moment for right now. I lean in toward her and rest my head on her shoulder for the rest of the drive.
