“No, it’s fine, Marina. I just really have so many things to do this afternoon. But it was nice chatting with you.” I take out a $5 bill from my wallet and leave it on the table for my tea.
“I can assure you that the pleasure was all mine, Addison. And please, the tea is on me.” She slides the money back toward me. No sense in fighting over a few dollars. I place the money back into my wallet.
“Thank you, Marina. That is very kind of you.” I smile.
“Of course. Hopefully we can do this again sometime. Now that I know we support the same charity, we should get to know each other better.” I smile definitely not wanting to ever see her again but instead I politely nod.
“Sure. That sounds lovely. Goodbye Marina.” I stand to walk away.
