I was sent to my bedchambers without any answers or a conclusion of who I was marrying. I felt defeated and sad that I couldn’t see Thorn, but I obeyed my father’s command. After slipping into a large t-shirt and some soft undies, I sat down in my comfy bed. I tried to do some reading to help me fall asleep, but I found myself still wide awake and unable to concentrate on what I was reading.
What was happening to Thorn’s body when he got angry? I’ve never seen him like that…
Thorn was a womanizer, a charmer, a non-serious fairy most of the time. He was also a loyal friend to me. Had he been that angry when my father refused to call me by my royal title?
More questions stirred as I heard my name being called from my balcony.
“Silver… Silver, open up!”
I sat up and looked. I gasped when I saw Thorn’s silhouette standing on the other side of my stained-glass doors that led to my small balcony. I quickly flew and unlocked the doors. Opening them, Thorn stumbled inside.
He was sweaty and appeared exhausted.
“Thorn! Are you okay?” I asked him, surprised he was on my balcony. I then realized this and looked outside. No vine or rope had been tied or attached to my railings…. And I was far below the throne room…
I looked back at Thorn. “Thorn, how in the light did you—
“Got a drink?” he asked, sitting down in a small chair by the doors. His white shirt was unbuttoned, revealing his sweaty abs and chest. He combed his curly brown hair out of his face, revealing a red but handsome face.
“I-I-I, um yeah.” I stammered and then went to get him water. After handing him a glass, I looked at him again. “Did you climb down?” I asked him.
“You got any wine?” he asked, seeming disgusted that I gave him water.
I shook my head. “Answer the question, please…Did you climb down here?”
“Maybe I did.” He said, then smiled at me. “Why, were you worried?”
“You aren’t off the hook if I was! Why did you say we were secretly engaged?!” I asked sternly.
“Oh, come on. I saw your reaction. You couldn’t even say no to Prince Sorren. Besides, it was obviously a proposal of political reasons, not of love.”
“But still… why?” I asked. “You couldn’t have said anything… now you are all caught up in my family.”
Thorn looked up after drinking all his water. “Because I don’t want you to move to Bone Clan.” He spoke.
I looked at him. “You… don’t?”
Hearing this say this surprised me, as one of my main reasons for wanting to say no was because I didn’t want to leave Thorn alone in Sun Clan. I then thought of all the intrusive thoughts I had of Thorn. Was it… Perhaps, Thorn felt the same about…. Me?
“So…. Are we….?”
“Engaged? Yes. I have convinced your father, and we shall marry in the winter…. 9 months from now.” He spoke. “Your sister Helena shall marry first, of course. She’ll have her grand day all to herself. However, I have asked King Rheagis and his royal family to attend our wedding since I am a Bone Clan fairy by blood.”
“You… really want to marry me?” I asked in surprise.
“Well, no, not really.” He said, almost crushing my hopes. “Here is my plan. We stay engaged till the day before our wedding. We convince everyone that we are in love and a happy couple. Meanwhile, I teach you how to find love and find someone else. Then, by the wedding day, when we break up, we just tell them that it was because we are two different fairies. You get to marry the person you want, and I get to live my own life.”
I looked at him, surprised. “You… wanna teach me how to be romantic?”
“Well, let’s be honest. You’ve never really talked to anyone. And the only thing you know about romance is in those books you read.”
“What about you?”
“What about me?”
“What’s in all of this for you?” I asked. “So far, this only benefits me. “Well, I get to live in the Great Tree for a while, drinking the fine stuff for a while, and I get to oversee that King Roland doesn’t ship you away for the next year. Besides, I could use some excitement in my life.”
“But what if my father… when we break up, what if he tries to marry me off to someone?”
“It will be a long time for him to do so. As far as I know, it took a year of planning to have this proposal with Prince Sorren happen. I’m really not that concerned.” Thorn said. “Besides, by then, you’ll be in love with another fairy and everything will be fine.”
I looked at him, surprised he had made such a plan. If this plan could work… if he really could teach me how to be romantic… then I wouldn’t be forced into a marriage I didn’t have interest in. I wouldn’t be sold off to another clan.
“Okay…” I said slowly. Then I nodded. I still felt I had questions unanswered, but I decided to save them for another day. “…But, I have one condition.”
“And what’s that?”
“If I am whisked away against my will, I want you to find me and marry me,” I said, pointing at him.
Thorn was silent, and his eyes widened a bit. “What?”
“I mean it. I don’t trust the king. Not after tonight. If I am forced into another marriage before our engagement ends, or… I don’t know, if King Roland schemes for me to be taken to another clan, I want you to promise me that you’ll come rescue me. After that, you will marry me for real.”
Thorn smiled. “I don’t have wings. It might take me a while.”
“I know you’ll come find me eventually,” I said.
Thorn sighed. “Alright, I promise.”
I smiled back. A wave of relief filled me as I looked at him. Thorn cast his eyes down my body.
“Nice undies by the way.” He spoke.
My face went red, and I pulled my shirt down to hide my undies and thighs. Thorn leaned forward and grabbed my pale arms. He forced me to let go of my shirt, revealing my purple soft underwear and my pale thighs. He pulled me close to him.
I felt my heart begin to beat fast as he leaned into me. His face got closer to mine.
“I have a feeling you and I are going to have a lot of fun together.” He spoke.
With this, his lips landed on mine. I felt frozen in shock, almost in denial that Thorn was kissing me. This lasted only for a few moments before I began to kiss him back.
Thorn's grip on my arms loosened, and he eventually freed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck. Thorn grabbed my thighs and hoisted me up in his lap. As his warm hands touched my thighs, I felt goosebumps race across my entire body. I also felt a strong desire to touch him back, kiss him more, and in other areas of his body.
I then realized that this feeling was arousal.
It had only happened from time to time when I had read my more spicy romance stories. But to have it happen from someone’s touch was different. It felt more satisfying.
“Thorn…” I moaned softly as I gave into the feeling I was having. Thorn's hands rubbed the upper part of my thighs, and then he would slowly reach down my knees, as if teasing me slightly.
I found myself growing more aroused and hotter as I sat in Thorn's lap. I began to kiss him more deeply and passionately. The sight of his bare chest before me made me think of more intrusive thoughts. I only prayed I was a good kisser.
I want to run my tongue down his abs…
Thorn's hands went from my thighs to my waist. He slowly pushed up my T-shirt and gripped my bare pale skin. Goosebumps ran through me again.
After gasping for air between kisses, Thorn's tongue went into my mouth and intertwined with mine. I returned the same action. My hands cupped around his cheek and neck, slowly running my fingers through his brown hair.
I didn’t know how long we were making out. By the time I felt that I was sitting on a bulge, there was a loud pounding knock on my bedchamber door.
We quickly stopped, and I turned my head. My heart raced, and I feared that someone would come in and see.
It was my mother.
“Silver! Silver! Are you okay?!” she asked in a panicked voice.
Not moving off of Thorn, I answered her. “Mother? I’m okay. I’m in bed. What is wrong?”
“Night Clan warriors have been captured! They just made an assassination attempt on your sister!”
