THE NEXT MORNING, IVY WALKED along the water’s edge with Misty, enjoying time with her daughter before the Reston wedding later in the day. Misty was telling her all about the theater play and the excellent reviews she’d received. Occasionally they paused to pick up an unusual shell or watch a gull dive into the surf for a fish.
“Have you checked in for your flight back to Boston tomorrow?” Ivy asked.
“Just before we left the house.” Misty placed her arm over her mother’s shoulder. “Wish I could stay longer, but now that I have a lead, I have a big responsibility.”
“You’re welcome anytime for as long as you want to stay,” Ivy said, hugging her daughter. “This is our home now, even though we share it with others. Maybe it’s not what we imagined, but this house has opened a new chapte
