Once the last float had passed and the parade was over, Steve let Jade go. He folded the blanket while she collapsed her chair, then he took that from her as well. He knew Nick and Julio were doing the same. They headed back to where they’d parked the trucks, moving as quickly as the people clogging the sidewalk would allow. While she"d been occupied with meeting and talking to people before the parade, he"d watched her. She’d seemed at home, comfortable with everyone, even Tiffany, who Steve knew wasn’t all that pleasant to be around. He was glad. He wanted her to fit in and make friends.
