The next morning, JV woke alone. Surprised to find the other side of the bed empty, she looked at the clock and blinked in disbelief. 12:38pm. She"d slept more than twelve hours. Stretching, she found her body stiff and slightly sore. She pushed herself out of bed and shivered as she pulled on her pajamas and headed for the kitchen.
She must have slept hard. She didn"t even remember Steve leaving this morning. She shuffled to the stove and picked up the coffee pot. Cold. Growling, she set the nearly full pot back on the burner and turned it on. She didn"t want to have to wait, but she couldn’t drink it cold either, not in this chill.
While she waited for the coffee to heat she added wood to the coals in the stove and stoked it back to life. It wouldn"t be long before the room was warm. S
